This Weeks Games

Postby Beefymcfc » Sat May 03, 2014 7:05 am

Here we go, into the penultimate round of games and there's still loads to play for, from top to bottom. It starts with Spurs away to the Hammers, both needing a single point to either assure European football or confirm PL status next season. Then into the 3 o'clocks where only Swansea v The Saints is a dead-rubber with the rest all having something hanging on them in the relegation battle. Cardiff or Fulham could be the first team to be relegated from the league and with Hull (in 13th) still not mathematically safe, there'll be a few arses twitching today.

And where it counts, the late KO. We'll have the thread for that but just to say that a win for us in what is usually a very difficult game, could leave our title rivals wondering what could have been. The Chav's should piss their game against Norwich and go top of the league but there could be an upset with the Dippers taking on Palace away. A bit of added pressure from us could see the whole season come together in the final week. Let's just hope and pray that it goes our way this weekend which will give us renewed vigor for the round of midweek games to come.

A big week for football and a big weekend elsewhere for the rest of the league.

Also, the last game of the season for the rest of the league with all the Chamionship games kicking off at 1215. Uwe's Wigan, who are already assured of the play-offs, are away to Blackburn who have a very slim chance of making the play-offs if they pick-up a 7 goal swing in goal difference. Reading and Brighton are the realistic ones fighting it out for that last spot and with Reading playing Burnley (promoted) then it could really go down to the wire.

At the other end there's a 3 way battle to avoid that last relegation place with Birmingham, Millwall and Dickov's Doncaster. Donny don't really stand a chance against the league champions and it will probably be down to the result of the Bolton v Brum game that decides Dickov's fate.

Lots happening today, can't wait.

Cuzak just had a howler to let the ball squirm past him. Brighton 1-0 down and looking to be out of the play-off positions with Reading drawing 1-1.

Donny and Brum still 0-0 so Dickov safe, at the moment, while Blackburn beating Uwe's Wigan 2-1.

FFS I've had all the kickoff times so badly wrong today it's unreal. Thought our game is 3pm so that now kind of ruined our evening plans (missus isn't pleased lol) and I also thought the Forest v Brighton is only about to kick off and now I missed almost whole 1st half

Thanks beefy for the thread!

With Reading and Brighton losing, Blackburn have come into the reckoning. They still need a four goal swing but they're definately there.

12:56: Leicester 0-0 Doncaster

Doncaster boss Paul Dickov - a former Leicester striker of course - looks pensive as he stalks the touchline. And it is not surprising as his troops start to come under the cosh.

Veteran Australia defender Lucas Neill is fortunate to escape a Leicester penalty appeal for handball. Then, on-loan Manchester United keeper Sam Johnstone is caught in no man's land as Foxes defender Ritchie De Laet heads over the Rovers crossbar.

But a point will be good enough for Donny if Birmingham don't win at Bolton.

Kaboul sent off for fouling Downing while through on goal.

0-0, freekick just outside the box.

Edit: 2 mins later Carroll heads it in the net. 1-0 and Hammers looking safe.

We want both Hammers and Villa to win today ; that way both will be safe (. . . and hopefully still hungover ) when we play them . So far, so good Hammers one up with Spurs down to 10.

2-0 we need to watch Carroll if it's the decider. He's playing quite well.

Birmingham going down. Never liked them but relegation to League 1 is a tough one....as we know.

Hammers being 2-0 up is good news, not only for Walmai, but for us too. It means , if the result stays, that Spurs can't overtake Everton for 5th place .... and perhaps Walmai won't mind if we give then a mauling next week !

Fantastic from Brighton and from Ulloa who's a good player - got a soft spot for them. Would be thrilled if they came up over the three clubs that have been in the Prem before (though if Brighton don't make it, I'd like Uwe to).

Very cruel on Dickov to go down like that.

Oh...my...god... I'm watching a bit of the RAG game (accidentally as it turns out) - and I swear O'Shea just tried to score an own-goal (and missed).
