Too often from what I remember. I remember seeing a never ending sea of people whilst Rick Holden sauntered down the byeline whipping in a cross with minimal effort. It was a massive and beautiful stand replaced by a monstrosity that cost far too much.


6 mill is a figure for the New Kippax. I never understood why they never just carried on with the North Stand, still a modern look if it was there today.

It was one of the finest stands I have ever had the good fortune to go on.

I won't reminisce at length, because most of the matches I saw as a neutral ended in defeats for your team.

I endorse what another poster has said above; its the memories of the days when stands like that were the norm that keeps us old(ish) lot interested in the modern game.

Maine Road was a fantastic old school stadium.
