I recently watched a rather quirky/disturbing/mysterious (depends on how you view it) movie called "The Number 23", starring Jim Carrey, in one of his less dumbass and more thought-provoking roles, like The Truman Show.
It led me to mull around some connotations surrounding the number 23.

Coincidentally, my date of birth is 5 January 1970:
5+1+1+9+7+0=23

Some Facts Not Relating To Football:

♪ The first morse code transmission – “What hath God
wrought?” – was from the Bible passage Numbers 23:23. In telegraphers code 23 means ” break the line”.

♪ "W" is the 23rd letter of the alphabet. It has two points down and three points up. Half of W is V, which is the Roman numeral for 5. The "W" on your keyboard is right between the 2 and 3.

♪ The Titanic sank on 4/15/1912; 4+1+5+1+9+1+2=23.
The Hiroshima bomb was dropped at 8.15am: 8+15= 23. The terrorist attacks on America on 11 September 2001 have been held up as one of the most portentous
examples of the mystical power of 23. The figures in the date (9+11+2+0+0+1) add up to 23.

♪ The average human physical biorhythm is 23 days. Humans have 23 vertebra running down their main bit. Blood circulates the body on average every 23 seconds. The tilt of Earth’s axis is roughly 23 degrees.

♪ The Birthday Paradox states that a group of 23 randomly-selected people is the smallest number where
there will be a probability higher than 50 per cent that two people will share the same birthday.

♪ William Shakespeare was born in Stratford Upon Avon on 23 April 1564. He died 52 years later on his birthday, 23 April 1616.

♪ The Ancient Chinese believed numbers conveyed
sexuality – evens for feminine and odds for masculine.
They considered prime numbers to be the most masculine, conferring special status on 23 which is made up of two consecutive prime numbers and the only even prime number – two.

♪ 23rdians are a group of people who subscribe to the
mystical power of 23 and see it in multiple combinations
throughout daily life.

RELATING TO FOOTBALL:
(specifically City)

* Manchester City retired the number 23 shirt as a mark of respect to midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe, the last City player to wear 23. The Cameroon international died after collapsing on the pitch during a Confederations Cup semi-final with Colombia, in 2003

* The last day of Premier League season 2011/2012 was 13/05/2012:
13+5+2+1+2=23
* The last day of Premier League season 2013/2014 will be 11/05/2014:
11+5+2+1+4=23

* In our PL title winning season, the title winning result was City 3 QPR 2. The fate of that game was turned around after the 90th minute; switch that score sequence around as well, and you get 23

* If that is not profound enough for you, the title-winning goal was scored by Sergio Aguero, whose age at the time was, you guessed it, 23!

* Manuel Pellegrini is 60 years old and has already won one trophy with City. If you add the number of letters of his name to his age and the trophy, you'll get:
6+10+6+0+1=23
If you only concentrate on the PL title in 2014, and we win it, it will still be:
6+10+6+0+1=23

* Incidentally, our title winning year, 2012, equated to:
20+1+2=23
By disregarding the Capital One Cup, a minus one in the equation, the year 2014 would equate to:
20-1+4=23

* The clash between Liverpool and Chelsea, billed as the potential title-decider, is on 27 April: 27-4=23

This is not a testament that the Premier League 2013/2014 title is destined for us.
What it is, is a cheeky but alluring display of the numbers game, specifically the number 23.
But it's not all about numbers. It's also about passion, entertainment, anticipation and an endearing love for the beautiful game.
And what beautiful football our team have been playing this season. The joys eclipsed the heartaches. We've won games by greater goal margins than the other 19 teams, and lost by not more than one goal for each of our losses. Coming back briefly to 'that' number, most so far were hard-fought 2-3 losses.

But as the saying goes, the ball is round. And such is the shape of fate.

Chelsea win tomorrow, the 27th;
They get 3 points;
We beat palace 2-0;
There's only one team going to go on and win the title.

27-3-2+0+1=23

AMAZING!

Tomorrow is one of those days where I'd love to go to bed around one and wake up at 6 to find out all the shit that went down.

One last roll of the dice. I hope to God the players play like the reality that we only need a one game swing ffs.

I had 23 vodkas last night and also a curry with 23 bits of chicken in it.
I've had 22 farts already this morning and I'm waiting for the 23rd....almost pushed it out.....still waiting.

Weirdly the 23rd post-curry fart is statistically the most likely to be the one with all the shit in it, so I would suggest Carl's best course would be to fart lightly
