The palace crowd we're being choreographed by some mad man with no shirt on. The city crowd don't have fans that help build that sort of atmosphere.

I hope the situation its self helps to liven the crown. I loved the lights of blue moon thing a couple if years back. Sent a shiver down my spine.

When fans, eg the fans group which go on Bluemoon etc, have suggested ways of creating a better atmosphere, it has often been ridiculed by many people who claim to be part of the so called 'singing' section etc.

One claim is always that all the atmosphere comes from so called 'banter' with the away fans, which imo is just people with a limited attention span not watching the game, not fans getting behind their team. Palace fans weren't fixating on away fans, they were supporting their team.

Imo, the club should go the whole hog & create an area for people who genuinely want to bounce around & make a racket supporting the team AND MAKE SURE IT IS NOWHERE NEAR THE AWAY FANS.

A genuine area for people who want to sing & shout & wave flags & back the team, not those who want to do Liam Gallagher impersonations, showing off waving their arms about at fat geordies; leave them where they are & start from fresh.

Didn't get the result we needed though, so did it really make a difference? Did acting like Neanderthals help Liverpool against Chelsea?

As much as a great atmosphere is fun for the fans, I'm not sure it makes a difference to the players until you get to a Galatasary level where players are scared to take a throw in.

What's more likely to make a difference to the result is a few hard tackles early on to make it clear we will win at any cost and if Villa or West Ham stand in the way, a few of them could be spending their summer in plaster. Considering they have nothing to play for and managers who could well be sacked, if I was their players, I'd be more willing to let us have the result based on that than some fat dude in the crowd with a scarf shouting 'C'mon City'.

Despite my post above about not being convinced atmosphere makes a difference, I do enjoy a bit of noise when it occasionally happens. One of the problems at City is the family stand, and I say that as someone who sits in it with two kids. You can't sing half the songs in there, as they're inappropriate for an 8 year old to be singing the following day. For night games, it's ridiculous - you can't sell the ticket as it's a child's ticket so has to be sold with the adult one. So unless you know someone who wants to go and pay the upgrade you end up with empty seats. I'd happily give my spares back to the club to sell on when I know they're not going to be used, but there's no option. They need to move the family stand elsewhere, maybe the top tier of the extended stands and allow more raucous fans at pitch level where the noise will carry.

If Joe Royle's side had played in front of the kind of atmosphere we had v Sunderland, they would never have got out of the 3rd division.

One of the problems ceated when we moved to the COMS, was the fact that the areas with the most atmosphere at Maine Rd were split up, then an attempt was made to recreate it elsewhere.

It didn't work properly. I used to be a noisy cunt at Maine Rd but nowardays the atmosphere from the 'singing sections' rarely reaches our area & when it does, most of the regulars are like fucking zombies, you feel almost stupid when you start singing half the time. Half the fans there don't even applaud when the team is being being read out.

The equivalent area at Maine Rd, was fucking rocking & some of the noisiest cunts in the ground were mates of mine who sat near the back. They ended up in the 3rd tier at the COMS, miserable as fuck.

We got it wrong when we moved. It needs some extra effort to get it back.

Great idea - there's nothing from large parts of the game from the south stand or east/south corner - just stood with their arms folded.

Need to get a 'kop' behind the opposite goal - move the kiddy section to the new 3rd tier and have that whole 1st tier. I don't mean with the fucking huge flags like the dippers or these 'ultras' do.

Having fans singing at both ends should help lift even were i am sat and its often just me and the missus singing there!

Also if theres plenty singing don't forget its as affective sat down as stood up (just feels less natural!)

I agree it could go in the North Stand end, but I recon the flags should be there. It shows why people are going in that area; to sing shout wave flags & support the team. No "siddahn I can't see, pull your finger out Kolarov" etc, just support. It doesn't need a whole stand, just a small area, then as more people like the look of it, more will move there.
