http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... er-7095054Sir Bobby Charlton: United will finish above City next season
The Reds legend expects a huge turnaround at Old Trafford, and is backing his former club to finish ahead of their local rivals.
Sir Bobby Charlton is certain Manchester United will finish above their bitter rivals City next year.
City's 4-0 win over Aston Villa means they need just one point from their final game of the season to win the Barclays Premier League.
United, meanwhile, are 20 points behind their neighbours in seventh place. They are likely to miss out on European qualification altogether thanks to a disastrous campaign under David Moyes, who was recently fired just 10 months after being appointed successor to Sir Alex Ferguson.
But the club's all-time top goal scorer, who is now a director at Old Trafford, has told City the balance of power will swing back in United's favour next year.
"This year has been an tremendously interesting year," said Charlton, who played 758 times for the club.
"We have done our best, we have changed manager, and it has not worked.
"But next year I guarantee that we will be number one in Manchester."
Charlton confirmed that Moyes' successor, likely to be Louis van Gaal, will have money to spend.
"We will have to buy a couple of players, which will happen," added Charlton, who was speaking at the Manchester United player of the year awards.
"I am looking forward a lot to next year because Manchester United is not renowned for being second.
"We like to be first and we will be first. We have the most fantastic organisation and that organisation when it works is unstoppable."

So if they are "guaranteed" to finish above us, then we must be dropping down to 8th then?
Senility has set in clearly, as the Rags try to somehow make themselves relevant in a weekend where nothing they do has any relevance on anything of note in the Premier League.

Truth is surely somewhere between the two. LVG + decent signings + no European football = title challenge. Not saying that they'll be above or below City, just that they'll be in amongst it.

LVG might have a small amount of short term success but he'll damage that club long term by removing all Fergie players in 2-3 years and thus ripping the culture of the team apart.
It's a long long way back. No champs league football again next season and the rats will desert. Even more rats than the ones leaving thus summer.
Can't wait for a call to the class of 92 to come back and save them, even though they have 4 games experience against lower league opposition and still couldn't beat them all .

I think that's what will happen. They'll have a go but not have the required level to see it through, whilst Liverpool limp into 5th or 6th place crippled by injuries & fatigue.
Oh & they'll be hysterically keen to win the League Cup again, like they were last season, after previously calling it Mickey Mouse.

What a disrespectful little old bag of cunt. Whoever wins the league today.. he should respect the 6 teams above his fallen raggys.
Also.. yes correct.. he will probably be long dead before they win a league again.
