Superstitions

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Superstitions

Postby roblues » Fri May 09, 2014 6:50 pm

Not had a thread on these for a while. I have to wear certain shirts and undershirts for certain games, I used to try to time my haircuts with important games, underwear choice is a factor, seating/standing position depending on where I am...anyone got any really weird shit that they HAVE to get done on the day?

It has to be blue all the way, city socks, jeans, pants and my "thomas cook " shirt under the denim jacket and my uncles champions league scarf, we lost him 3 months ago but that we he comes to every game with me. He is the reason I am a blue!!!!
I quite agree with you,' said the Duchess; `and the moral of that is--Be what you would seem to be--or if you'd like it put more simply--Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.

Oh actually yes!, yes I have. On derby day I pop a signed Tuart match programme on top of the wireless (thats the radio for our younger members not the little box by the phone socket). I also cover all the pictures in the front room with the shirts my lads collected over the past eleven years!

I used to have a lucky scarf, then a lucky flag, but their luck ran our and now they lie in the wardrobe. Now I drink a lucky pint; sometimes we still lose but I'm sure the next pint will be lucky.

I used to have a lucky pair of boxers, then I found myself a wife that I didn't explain the significance of said boxers to. Long and short of it was I had them from about 89 and they "went" in about 04. Gutted they were gone as they were worn at Wembley in 99, but being honest they'd seen their day.

Sunday I will have on my rain Le Coq Sportif rain Jacket that I wore to SF of the FA cup against Chelski, that I didn't wear to the final against Wigan......

Superstitions are ridiculous. Any grown adult should know they are complete nonsense.

However, if I don't have the first cuppa from one of my City mugs, I get tetchy. Oh and I also decided not to wash my City shirt if we win. I always wear it over a T-shirt or jumper, so it's not too bad. Never used to be a problem, as it got a wash after most games. Last few seasons haven't been great - I've had to start looking for excuses to wash it.

I'm not really superstitious, although I try not to tempt fate. That might be more to do with not wanting to look like an overconfident wanker though.

I'm exactly this! Supporting city all this time has at least taught me not to fuck with fate! Liverpool fans may learn this after winning the league against us at anfield. Oh no, hang on, they were just gobshites!

Last time I drank lager watching a game was the Liverpool game. Drank cider since then. Was in the supermarket before the game today. Really wanted lager but had to have cider. Just in case.

Turned out nice again as the saying goes.

My phone won us the league.

During the diastourous efforts to make too 4 and win the league cup I has a city phone case.

Following year I had a new phone and didn't we won the fa cup.

Won the league.

Bought a champions phone case.

Lost the league and cup final.

Took it off.

Won league cup.

Bought an Aguero phone case.

Lost all momentum and all was lost.

Took it off

Won 5 straight and the league.

I wore EXACTLY the same clothes for each game for the last 5 games
I was doing so bad in my fantasy team that every player I transferred or made captain fucked up so I bought Suarez and made him captain for the last 5 games!!! RESULT!

I AM THE REASON WE WON THE LEAGUE

Everytime I put someone in my fantasy team, they go to pot. I single handedly ruined Arsenal by putting in Ramsey, Giroud and Ozil. Took a bit longer for the effect to kick in on Suarez, but he definitely wasn't as free scoring once he became my captain. Therefore, to ensure the title, I brought in Carroll and Downing for yesterday. The Sheikh owes me my tenner back for services to City.
