My all time favourite City player along with the King. Don't know if he's the world's best playmaker but has to be up there with the best. He's truly a joy to watch.

I don't think he's the best, I think he has two countrymen in front of him with Xavi and Iniesta and I don't want to rule out Pirlo either, who at his age is still nothing short of amazing.

Samir,key passes 91
David,key passes 88
Imiesta,key passes 51.

There are lots of other stats where our David comes behind Sami so this statement that he is our best playmaker does not sit right with me

I think silva controls the game far more than toure. In fact, he controls the game far more than anyone in the league imo

That's probably true.

Attacking players need to score goals though & he should score more. But against West Ham, he was trying to do exactly that & was very unlucky. If he just steps inside & has a dig a bit more, his value to the team will go up even further imo. He will score goals if he does that.

The funny thing about Silva is that lots of commentators and pundits think that he's much more clinical in front of goal then he actually is.
Like that volley he missed yesterday, they said it was a sign of nerves that he blazed it over when the reality is he usually misses chances like that. When he misses a good chance often they'll say 'you would expect David Silva to score that' etc.

World class playmaker without a doubt and I've said it for some years now but once/if he adds goals to his game he'll be up there with the very best, I really believe that.
He is capable.

And at least he seems to be having a go more now than he did before. Even so I think he's already up with the very best with what he's doing now.

For me that was one of the best moments of the season and, because of that and quite a few other things for me Sami after Yaya has been our best player.

I don't agree that iniesta is better than Silva.

They both control the ball amazingly well and tend to dictate almost every game. From what I can see, Silva also has a far higher assist rate and similar if not more amount of goals.

So what exactly is iniesta better than Silva at?

I think they're at a similar level overall. Iniesta isn't at his best anymore though. Iniesta is, and always has been, a vastly better dribbler but i think Silva dictates play a little more. Silva's somewhere in between Xavi and Iniesta in my opinion.

I don't think it' possible to be "vastly" better than Silva at dribbling, but if it was, I'd say only Messi and possibly tranny fit that criteria.

But overall, your assessment is pretty much bang on.

Yeah, vastly is over stating it admittedly, but Iniesta is better at skipping past challenges. Messi is the best at that and on another level. I don't think Ronaldo is, or ever has been, that *great* a dribbler personally. He doesn't tend to beat 3 or 4 players. He's usually a beat one player and shoot kinda person.

Incidentally, the player in the league who actually dribbles like Iniesta the most is Lallana. He moves with the ball in the exact same way - its quite fascinating. His body shape and everything is identical when he runs.
