Rags not ruining football by making 27m bid for him. What do we reckon?

If this is true I hope we get involved in this.

Fantastic analogy.

Very appropriate as well.

Hats off to you, old chum.

Have to think Chelsea will bid soon - as good as Azpilicueta was at LB, Shaw is the obvious replacement for Cole.

Only Abramovitch knows how much Chelsea can afford to spend in the summer but, according to Mourinho, they've been playing without a centre-forward all season.

On that basis, they ought to be needing a couple of strikers at least (Cavani for one ??), to get them through a full season and these won't come cheap, so that may well rule out any Chelsea interest in Luke Shaw.

If, after all that however, they were interested in him, at the very least they won't want to get involved in a bidding war which would only inflate the purchase price.

Mind you, having said that, Mourinho does like having and playing a lot of defenders and he might just prefer another left-back, rather than getting a striker.....and if he did buy a couple of forwards, he'd have nothing to moan about when they win nothing again.

They've got Ryan Bertrand back from loan at Villa, they might settle for him at Chelsea next season. He was apparently talked out of moving to Liverpool by Mourinho last summer.

Wouldn't that make him the most expensive left back in the world(not counting Bale)

I can imagine Chelsea in some way getting involved. I also read that Shaw's heart lies at Stamford Bridge. Could be bull tho

On that basis, if he didn't go to Chelsea, for whatever reason, but went to the Scum instead, could he then be categorised as a "mercenary" ??

Might want to categorise him as stupid for going to the rags.

WE should stay well clear.

paying 30 million for a left back is crazy, especially one that isn't even world class. People on here have even said that he doesn't track back properly sometimes.

i'd prefer if we just keep rotating clichy and kolarov than waste 30 mill on this unproven kid.

all we need is a top class centre half and use demi when vinny eventually gets injured again.

also if shaw had anything about him, he would at least stay at SH for another season or two.
Still here.

We might have little choice but to pay over the odds if we need to up the home grown quota unfortunately. Wouldn't mind Fabregas if he fancies leaving Barca tho, I'm sure he was going to united for £25m last summer wasn't he?

Agree all the way. Is he really that much better than Kola and Clichy. Neither are old yet and haven't we got a lad in Eds ( Greg Leigh?) who is supposedly mustard who could get a chance in 2/3 years. Far better to concentrate on centrehalf

A great player. I'm sure we'll enquire but he's a certain starter at the rags so might be difficult.
