Yeah. This makes no sense. Unless they're planning on selling Cavani....id also sell Marquinhos if I were them. They're supposedly bringing in Dani Alves too and I don't think he's on a free

blues2win wrote:You're probably right Ted. If Fernando comes,as he almost certainly will, it will release Fernandinho to be the more complete midfielder we all know he is. Also Yaya can spend the bulk of his time surging forwards on those dangerous runs of his. In other words our attack should be even more potent than this season. I think the main issue is centre back. Do we play MDM and Vinny together and gradually introduce a new talented youngster like Mangala? Where then does that leave Nastasic? Could Sagna fill in there from time to time? Probably.

Nastasic imo is about 50% of what Demichelis has now become. At the start of the season they were much closer in standard. Demi came in, found Nastasic's level, passed it, then moved up to another level entirely. Some have spotted a 'Bobby Moore' gene in Nastasic which means he is going to become a worldbeater. Imo, he has to start showing some of that, which includes some proper decisive, intuitive, defending. If he doesn't show it next season; sell him.

New cb will probably demand to play a good number of games. Difficult juggle.

My worry is what happens when Vinny breaks down, now that Lescott has gone.

Boyata & Wright offered new deals apparently.

Wright is like the football equivalent of Bez from the Happy Mondays.

Costel Pantilimon is a surprise inclusion on Manchester City's end-of-season released list.

The Romanian goalkeeper has not extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium after three years with the club in which he has failed to nail down a first-team berth.

But shot-stopper Richard Wright has been offered a contract according to the Premier League, as has homegrown-qualified defender Dedryk Boyata.

The pair saw little playing time in 2013-14 but the Blues may be hoping to retain them with next season's Champions League squad-size sanctions in mind.

However, English duo Gareth Barry and Joleon Lescott have been allowed to leave as expected.

Released
Agyiri Thomas
Barry Gareth
Henshall Alex Charles
Kennedy Kieran
Lescott Joleon Patrick
Pantilimon Costel Fane
Swan George
Tchuimeni-Nimely Alex

He has a hell of a lot more career appearances than Stuart Taylor, our former Bez!

Have to laugh if that Luiz to Psg story is true.Thats crazy money for a player so prone to error. He can be good on his day but he's a real mixed bag never consistently good.

Surprised they kept Nimley on last time as offered nothing - Alex Henshall is an interesting one, turned up in a fanfare of interest and potential from Swindon and hasn't come close to pushing on

Nimely was a nearly imo. Henshall looked pretty lively & pacey initially but then faded into nothing & has such competition coming up in several age groups behind him. Several of those lads were signings I think, maybe all, & highly rated when they came to the club. George Swan was very unlucky with injuries tbf.
But the standard is leaping up. It's actually surprising that some serious, proper skilled talent is actually English & some from Manchester. I'm more excited about the future academy produced players, than i am about senior players who we're signing now. Keep spotting new ones in snippets of video & going wtf!.

There's a lad in the U16s who I've only seen once, on tv, & just on that showing I recon already that he will play in City's first team & probably reach it at a young age. I remember watching SWP & thinking the same, but he was playing amongst buffoons. This lad stood out, surrounded by real quality kids.

Some who I had high hopes for will disappear just like those lads, but the next generations won't all miss the boat. Some are going to make it pretty big imo.

We need to give three or four youngsters the chance to play in the Capital One Cup side rather then pretend we're going for the quadruple.

I respect your opinion Ted, but he turned up at Middlesbrough on loan about two seasons ago and looked like he was out of his depth at Championship level - then came back and we offered him a new contract, all very odd as he wasn't putting in performances obviously was showing more back at the club than he did away from it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Oh I don't mean he nearly made it, I thought he'd probably missed the boat years ago. I mean he was 'nearly' a player ability wise. He appeared as if he had all the neccessary bits needed but it failed to materialise into anything special on the pitch.

He did actually get an England U21call up though, but pulled out injured.

Looks like Sinclair is doing well for himself, maybe she can pay his transfer fee.

Ian lawlor called up to the Irish squad now due to a lot of injuries, still young for a goalie and maybe our homegrown replacement for Pants? Haven't seen anything of him though so can't comment on ability.

he was always a desperation move after we didn't get Hazard.

Last call at the bar and we had to take someone home....and he popped up.

cheers

I think it was another 'homegrown' player we were after. I think I knew who it probably was at the time, but can't remember now. It was one of these unlikely ones. But Sinclair was basically just sat there waiting to sign, & Swansea sat waiting for us to do the deal, but we were trying to get someone else to fill AJs 'homegrown' place.

Bloke was obviously despereate to play for City & in the end Mancini kind of went 'oh go on then', & we signed him. Feel a bit sorry for him from that respect. He wasn't a bad player & we really shot his confidence, or I should say, Mancini did.
