This is as big of a shock as the game last night. Great work by Costa Rica, well deserved.

What a match by the Costa Ricans. They love their footy and are a great group of people. Super happy for them. Their spirit was so infectious. What a match.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

I was gonna watch it on the big screen in the Mess but they've been on it since 10 this morning for Trooping the Colour. It'll be messy.

After the costa rica match a draw is ideal for both teams. I backed a nil all, although I was tempted to go 1.1 be surprised if anything else.

Not surprised at all. That guy always plays through injuries. Hope it doesn't affect him for our season

foooking hell, I don't know who that is in the lineup for the Ivory Coast but it looked like he had no eyes. He scared the heck out of me.

I've got a sneaking admiration for Chile and they remind me of the Peruvian side of the 1970s - an attacking side, wonderful to watch, great going forward but at the expense of a defence which is a bit shaky and always liable to leak goals.

There must be something in the waters on the western side of South America....and City have a Chilean Manager, reflecting that particular outlook.

Happy days.

Watching Ecuador with another old boy as a bit of interest. Caicedo was perhaps the right player at the wrong time.

Clarke Carlisle expressed surprise that Jackson Martinez couldn't get into the Ecuador starting line-up. Perhaps it's because the lad plays for Colombia. Do your background work, Clarke!

Ecuador v Switzerland has been entertaining to watch aswell.
Every game so far has been good with a couple of brilliant end to end games. Heck even England played their part in a thoroughly entertaining game.

Really reignited a lot of people's passion for international football and has shown why the World Cup is definitely in my opinion, the best competition out there.

FIFA probes France 'spy drone' claim

France manager Didier Deschamps has revealed concerns that his side's final World Cup preparations may have been spied on by a drone hovering over their training camp.

Les Bleus' build-up for Sunday's World Cup Group E against Honduras in Porto Alegre at their base in Ribeirao Preto was disturbed by an unmanned aerial vehicle appearing over their heads.

It has not been confirmed to whom the device belonged, or who was controlling it at the time, but Deschamps said that such practices were becoming more commonplace in football and that world governing body FIFA was looking into the incident.

"Apparently drones are used more and more," Deschamps, a World Cup-winner as a player with France in 1998, told a news conference. "It's not up to me. FIFA handles this and has been carrying out an inquiry; we don't want any intrusion into our privacy. It's very hard to fight this these days.''

France will play their first World Cup finals fixture since the ignominious end to their 2010 campaign, when infighting within the squad and poor performances off it led to the 2006 finalists being eliminated at the group stage.

Deschamps, however, insists that there is a much more positive air inside the camp as he prepares to enter his first major finals as an international manager.

"You shouldn't mention South Africa," he said. "We're now in another World Cup, we're in Brazil and were not going to be judged by what we did four years ago. It's wonderful to have a good atmosphere here. We have supporters behind the team."
