Mark Ogden explains the agenda

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Not sure there's a great surprise here...papers print what they think their readers want to read.

Actually there's a part of me that has always enjoyed supporting City as the underdog team. Frankly the papers can write what they want, and the pundits can spout what they want but who gives a monkeys if we continue to perform as we have done over the last year or so?

There is an agenda right down from the FA to sky and even BT sports. It all comes down with the love affair of the rags and they can't stand the fact that the other manchester team is making waves.

if it were west brom instead of city who got the shrieks money, how the media would have treated west brom would have been massively different.
Still here.

Well we get bigger as a club to the stage where it is no longer in their interest to cater significantly more to our rivals. It will take a while but we can get there.

Ferguson proved that if you have that fanbase you don't need to do anything else. He did the exact opposite of Ogden's claims; handed out bans & threats etc yet most would still crawl over each other to suck his dick.

Interesting thread and some very valid points made.
Personally I think it boils down to shillings. The 'media' lick the holes of those who has made or do make them the most money. For a long time that has been rags and dippers, then we gate crashed the party! And they don't like it too much.
But we're not going away and in time it will change. But I am not so sure if I want it to change, it's nice sticking it up to them.

While Poles giving you cancer and what Ginger Spice is eating may attract most clicks from the UK, I would put money on sports stories involving the Rags and Dippers getting over 75% of their clicks from outside the UK. The majority of people who click on these stories (the figure advertisers care about, the people who at the end of the day Ogden was talking about, not the readers) couldn't give two hoots about a story involving us, positive or negative.

I don't see what the complaint is with Lampard, we loaned him and we are paying his wages - if we had actually wanted him we could have signed him on whatever terms NYCFC offered him and given him a twelve month contract. Where was the complaint when Arsenal loaned Henry for six months? Or any of the other short term MLS loan signings? What exactly is objectionable about what we're doing and why is it supposedly murky? No one has actually stated anything that comes close to making sense about it.

us winning the league this year was such a blow to "them." There has been almost a complete media silence surrounding city and the only things you will read are negative. Meanwhile utd, arsenal and chelsea are spending loads and getting nothing but positive press from every angle.

Then you see throwaway bullshit like wenger's jibe about lampard, and look at the legs they have given it. Unreal.

People who continually deny that there is an agenda, an absolute motivation, for the media to have anti-city bias have obviously been shamed by pro-sky4 fans and media outlets as being 'bitter' and consequently too scared to raise a voice or allow themselves to see the obvious, even when it comes out in direct quotes straight from the top.

Does anyone actually have some good football news websites that aren't so Utd/Liverpool dominated? There must be some interesting sites to read out there.

They want as many customers as possible so they cater to the most popular teams who will help them achieve that. It's not really surprising.

No, the content in the Telegraph is for the consumption of people here (& probably in Ireland) & many of those stories are then syndicated to other news outlets in other countries. If people in other countries also read it, that is a bonus, but the market they are aiming at is here first and foremost.

Secondly, read the comments on any big anti City story & you will find rags, dippers & Arsenal fans from all corners of the globe sticking the knife in, so I repeat, your take on it is complete bollocks without even the slightest base in reality.

Arsenal fans mock Manchester City supporters by doing Poznan celebration during Community Shield win

Arsenal fans added insult to crushing defeat for Manuel Pellegrini's side by pinching Manchester City fans' Poznan celebration and mocking them with it after Olivier Giroud scored the Gunners' final goal in their 3-0 win.

Arsene Wenger's team cruised to a comfortable victory at Wembley to win the Community Shield, thanks to goals from Giroud, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey.

City adopted the celebration - which involves fans linking arms, turning their backs to the pitch and then jumping up and down in unison - after Lech Poznan supporters did it against them in a Europa League match in 2010.

Despite being riled by the celebration at the time, City fans were soon using it themselves in the Premier League.

Other clubs have since celebrated goals and important wins in a similar fashion, with Republic of Ireland using the celebration when they played in Poznan against Croatia during Euro 2012.

Arsenal were not the first to use the Poznan to mock City supporters, with fans of newly-promoted Cardiff City doing it when they beat them 3-2 in August 2013.

Supporters of City's local rivals Manchester United also did it during a Manchester derby game during the 2011–12 FA Cup.

Isn't it strange that we no longer worry about this sort of article but see it for what it is, the Sky Four love-in.

Cheers, Ted. More bile from that puke-inducing, fascist-supporting, racist, xenophobic, semi-literate comic. There's more factual content on the back of a cornflakes packet.
