Dzeko is by no means a slouch and when he gets motoring he can hurtle along quite quickly and powerfully actually.

He's not slow but he's not known for his pace either - and particularly not his burst speed. I doubt if he's in the top 8 in the squad. Our fullbacks, however, in my opinion, can all out burst him, which is what I would expect the vast majority of Premier league fullbacks to be able to do (with the apparent exception of Chambers).

he's not known for his pace correct but quite a few times for us he's surprised everyone with a burst of acceleration that you wouldn't expect. Watch his part in our goal in the 1-0 league cup game a few years back at the Emirates. I remember similar runs against Liverpool and the rags that season. He really can motor at times. He's not so quick off the mark but at top speed I reckon he would outpace kolarov, clichy(not as quick as he once was) and Zab, quite easily too. Only Richards ( who's going anyway) and Sagna would beat him outright for pace. I'm not sure about chambers, haven't seen him play too much but he shouldn't be written off for being outpaced by dzeko once in one of his first matches.

Thing is he is still young, so some might see what they perceive as his potential. He did put in some decent performances in his first season. Then last season and the fuck up away to chelsea did him a lot of damage, he went from bad to worse, no confidence. If he could get some confidence and a bit more aggression / determination to attack and win the ball he could be a decent cb. But pre-season showed no signs of that much needed improvement.
A move back to Italy is most likely, 12m is about right.
