Pellegrini post match on outs

MEN say he indicated Guidetti Sinclair Richards and Nastasic were all surplus to requirements. Not a surprise. We can't afford passengers on the wage bill. None of them are even second choice. Up to Txiki to get the best deals he can for them.

Very clear on Nasti seeing Boyata on bench over him, even though ultimately that slot will go to Mangala/DiMichaels.

I'm quite shocked by this actually.

I have never rated Nastasic but he has played a lot of games next to VK etc, & the 4th cb tends to get a fair bit of use during the season. Boyata has had a pretty torrid few years & for him to be suddenly brought back in place of Nasti is effectively the Boss & coaches sayingto Nasti "you're shit mate", which he is, but I'm still shocked. I can only assume they see Sagna as 4th cb, & Dedryk as 5th, unless DB has been great in training.

I wonder if Nasti's last moment was when Alex just stuck an arm out & headed the ball unchallenged in that pre season game whilst Nasti just stood there & let him ? He did that regularly in the Prem, & perhaps Pellegrini just said, Carl style: "Get rid of the cunt".

If we bring in near to 20mill for those four then Tricksy and Soriano can have a cake from Greggs on me. I'll make sure the "happy birthday yaya you soft twat" icing is removed first. What?... it cost good money I'm not gonna waste it

Boateng, Savic, Nastasic, Mangala.

How much has it cost to replace 'overpriced, slow, afraid of the ball', Jolean Lescott ?

Bloke was a fucking bargain.

Apparently Pellegrini said explicitly that he considered Boyata as fourth centre back which ties in with his contract extension. Maybe he thinks he'll be ok playing with Vinny or MDM even if he was pretty unimpressive playing with Nastasic. I remain to be convinced.

Perhaps he gave them all pre season to fight it out ? In that case, Boyata won by a distance.

For all his clumsy moments, Boyata was much more like a Pellegrini cb than Nasti or Rekik. He goes out & attacks the ball. Pellegrini seems to prefer that from a cb, even if they get it wrong, rather than sitting back & watching. Also he is yards quicker than Nasti or Rekik & much better in the air. It's his nervousness which is a worry, but tbf he never had that until Mancini stuck him in the team, ridiculously, v Arsenal & he got sent off.

Until that day, he was rated as a huge prospect & possible future partner for VK.

Just said on SSN that Edin Dzeko is ready to sign a new longterm contract but then goes onto say that Brendan Rogers is hopeful of signing him! Looks like Brenda's after some refelected glory and Edin only played well because of the link.

Wedder's face was a picture as he said it, very straight-faced until the end and then just smirked.

Some Newcastle fans I was chatting to yesterday seemed to believe that Micah is going to them for £4m

I think nasti is leaving over boyatta for 2 simple reasons, dedeyck is homegrown & we'd also get fuck all money for him
Business hats on, it has to be nasti

4 million for micah is a bargain in my view , obviously he is off though as he is fit and not used in favour of a left back

Reminds me almost of the old Joe Mercer comment about Nobby Stiles, which he ended with the accolade "but what a player".

Cant see how or why Boyata is favoured over Nastasic? Quite odd.

The others mentioned clearly can go for any price we can get but if Nastasic leaves & Boyata is kept as our fourth CB we will be in trouble anytime he is put on the field as he simply isn't good enough.

As Ted alluded to above Boyata suits Pellegrini's style better than Nasty. It's similar to the Hummels v Mangala argument from a few weeks back.

Besides I got the impression from Pellegrini last season that he was pissed off with Nasty over that injury he had when the doctors couldn't even find anything wrong with him.

Boyata is home-grown, nothing else. Sagna is a competent CB by the way.

Nastasic signed in June 2012, so has now been with the club 2 years & only turned 21 this year, so by my reconing he is available on list 'B' for champions Lg & is U21, therefore available for all domestic games outside squad limits.

He's being released because Boyata has been rated higher than him.

Pellegrini also said that Micah was offered an extension of his contract and refused it. Dzeko will sign an extension any time and Joe will be next. I think the signs are that Milner will run down his contract and then leave. He won't get enough game time in the important matches to be satisfied and Pellegrini is going to pick the best team for a particular match and make substitutions as appropriate. He's not going to play Milner more than he thinks necessary because he's trying to persuade Milner to stay. The Club clearly value him as a squad member but he wants more which is fair enough.

Exactly, this notion that we'll retain a player just because he's homegrown and not based on ability is fucking ridiculous.

I'm sure the fact that he's homegrown works in his favour but it's not the only factor taken into account.

Spot on and that goes for Boyata too. If he doesn't shape up Denayer will be potentially back next season from Celtic and pushing hard for a place in the first team squad. I assume by then that Kompany and Mangala will be our first choice centre backs and the question is whether MDM gets a one year extension which I would be inclined to give him. In that case there 'd be one space which potentially would be fought out between Boyata and Denayer. I think the latter looks a better long term bet.

I don't know if anyone on here will come on to back me up on this, but as I've mentioned previously, Boyata was THE prospect at cb in the younger teams. He was a player who looked to have everything, strong, good in the tackle, good in the air, quick & very decent on the ball.

It was his exposure at first team level that took him from top prospect to nervous clown. He was clearly not ready, but they picked him anyway, playing away from home in Europe, & of course home to Arsenal & he made high profile fuckups. Mancini did the same with Nastasic but he just does fuck all, so his mistakes weren't as obvious as he just lets people turn, win headers or run past him without getting involved. Boyata tries to win the ball & cover for people.

He obviously got a mental problem & lost his nerve, plus he has missed all the experience of proper games next to top players like Nastasic has had, but imo, he has shitloads more ability than Nasti. It's the mentality which is in question.

I will be surprised if he gains that confidence & I don't trust him, but I understand why the boss has decided to give him a shot. If both he & Nasti played to their max, Boyata would piss all over him.

Denayer looks nailed on for that job next season but I'd love Dedryk to grab the other spot when Demi goes. Can't see it happening but I'd love it to work out for him.

You might well be right. I more or less wrote the lad off after his horrible loan session at Twente, but of course that was after his confidence had already been blown to pieces. I hope he can overcome his confidence issues, but I doubt he has what it takes to make it at the top level.
