Elano

Would of been interesting too see what Mancini could of done with him, I believe he would of been able to get the best out of him and he could of been a very important player in the current side imo.

Bollocks

Mancini doesn't carry passengers...it's well documented...and that lazy workshy dressing room disruptor would have no place in Bobbys team

I'm not having that, the reason he was a passenger was because Hughes couldn't get the best out of him, and when Elano did get a run in team at the end of last season he was one of our best players, and every player who has been asked wheather or not he was a twat in the dressing room have all said it was bollocks. Under Sven Elano was quality and in my book Sven and Mancini share alot of the same quality's, i'm sure Mancini would have found a role for him in our side.

Elano has the raw talent to actually be one of the best midfielders in the world- I'm not exaggerating, its all there- except for the mentality. It would require amazing man management to have him performing at his full potential consistently, which Sven, Hughes and managers of his previous clubs all failed to do. Whether Mancini could, we'll never know. I suppose you could argue that Dunga has him figured out because I've never seen him play poorly for Brazil, but then International football is almost a different game.

He was frustrating and at times exceptionally lazy but I still look back at his time with us fondly- he did some unbelievable things with the ball and nearly all of his goals were belters.

i would love to have him back playing in his proper position.
we've got much better attacking players now, that would flourish with his service.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Yes Elano would be a great player if football lasted 60mins. But it doesn't and he ain't fit enough which makes him not good enough.

I agree with his raw talent, but I dont think the solution to his lack of performance could ever be in management. He doesn't have it in himself to produce consistently and so 70% of the time hes a waste of space and we don't need passangers on the pitch. Add to that his disruptive influence in the dressing room and i dont think the situation with him would be any different, not matter who is in charge. He plays ok for Brazil in patches with very limited defensive responsibility.
Despite all his natural ability and flashes of genius, i wouldn't have him back.

The fact that he was a poor athlete was as big a hinderance and perceived laziness.

Dunga substitutes him around the 60 min mark in almost every game.

does that mean Bellamy would be a great player if we played once every two weeks?

It's an interesting question, because if I'm not mistaken Mancini wanted him at Inter, so he must rate him. But I guess we will never know.

Amazingly I agree with him too.

If Elano was half as good as he thinks he is he'd already be World Footballer of the Year. The classic "on his day" player - his day being 1 game in every 12.

If Elano was as good as some think on here he would be playing for one of the top teams in Europe, he's not, he's playing in the micky mouse Turkish league and for me that says it all.

He had about 10 decent games in 2 years and took a good pen. That is not a world class player in my book! Good ridance!!

Mancio learnt a lot from Svennie at past Lazio years. Maybe he'd make an excellent job with Elano too. But are we sure this Brazilian player deserve to play in a Top Four club? My own opinion is he's too lazy to become an effective talented great player!

Blimey, same old ground again. There is a reason Elano is playing in Turkey, not the Premier, or Spain, or Italy.

He cannot tackle
He gets easily pushed off the ball/loses possession, giving the other team an attack when our players are all upfield
He tries a 70 yard failed pass when 10 will do
He has no pace
He misses 99 free kicks and scores one

Occasionally, in amongst all this, is a flash of brilliance.

Mancini cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
