Bosnian team doctor says Edin has 'very serious' calf injury. FFS. Wonder whether it was wise to risk him on Saturday. Did he aggravate a problem? This was always a danger when we let Negredo go and didn't replace him.

It seems he is out for 'up to three weeks.' It looks like he will miss one league game and one Champs League game.

Goal reporting it is a thigh injury rather than calf and he could be out between 2-6 weeks:
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/7134/eur ... ID=TP_HN_1

"Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is set for a spell on the sidelines with a "serious" thigh injury according to Bosnia-Herzegovina's team doctor Reuf Karaberg.
Dzeko lasted just four minutes as a second-half substitute at QPR in the Premier League on Saturday before picking up problem and making way for Frank Lampard.
The striker still flew out to his homeland to report for duty ahead of his country's Euro 2016 qualifier away to Israel on Sunday but has been diagnosed with a ruptured adductor in his right thigh - an injury that generally requires a recovery period of anything between two to six weeks.
Karaberg told the Bosnian FA's website: "The injury is very serious and requires some recovery time, which, unfortunately, is in conflict with the possibility of a rapid return to the field."
Safet Susic has already been shorn of Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic, leaving him with no recognised spearheads in his squad, and the Bosnia coach has written off his side's hopes of securing all three points at the weekend,
"If Dzeko can't play we will be resigned to playing for a draw against Israel because we have no hope of winning without him," Susic told Bosnia’s FENA news agency"

He's been absolutely useless the past few weeks anyway. Could be a blessing.

He has been this seasons biggest disappointment. He had such a strong and important, glorious even, finish to last season, I really expected him to kick on and rip the league up this time around. But it's back to Edin on his worst day, every day. I think he has been harshly judged in the past and seems to be a genuinely nice feller, but what a let down at the mo.

see link below this very serious calf injury equates to a 3 week lay off. I would class a very serious injury as anything from a minimum of 3-6 months.

Perhaps a niggling injury is the reason why he's been so shit & his workrate has been so much less than early season. Hope so.

Yes please; this would be terrific for us, as far as I'm concerned.

Have you any further, recent, details Nige, which might give (me) grounds for optimism ??

tbh i like cavani but I'm not convinced he'd be an upgrade. we don't break with pace anymore, and he's often a bit donkey with his back to goal.

Swap Edin for Cavani?

It can't happen because Edin either plays out of his slump or doesn't and in either case then we or they respectively wouldn't want to do a deal.

Cheers

Cavani is a prime example of the 'grass is always greener' syndrome. If only some people on here saw all the chances he wastes, they would hound him out of Manchester before he set a foot into Greggs.

Our most reliable striker of last season is struggling for a couple of games, possibly down to an injury, and some cannot wait to start hurling insults at him again. Raggy knobs. Worrying if we have to rely on two forwards whose combined absence last term equates to about a full season. But yeah, 'blessing'. Knobs.

Better the devil you know syndrome . Edin been largely fucking useless so far this season but you just know he can hit a hot streak at anytime . Cavani belongs in the Scottish Prem league these days ! ;-)

I don't particularly rate Cavani. As for Edin, he's proved he can do it.
