Jovetic out for Everton, Dzeko in squad and injury updates

Manuel Pellegrini reveals defender Aleksandar Kolarov and striker Edin Dzeko are in the squad for the match with Everton.
Midefielder David Silva and striker Stefan Jovetic are out.

Manuel Pellegrini hopes David Silva will be in contention for Wednesday's crucial Champions League match against Roma, while captain Vincent Kompany remains on course to return for the match at the Stadio Olimpico.
He said: "We have a last test with him on Monday to decide. It is possible he could travel to Rome".

Manuel Pellegrini confirms Yaya Toure did not train today as a precaution, but has been named in the squad to face Everton.

Dont know but the river I was watching the Sunderland game on reported, shortly after he was subbed, that it was an injury that forced him off, though the inference was that it was more precautionary than anything else.

Yes, just done some digging and it seems jojo got a knock as u say and is being rested as a precaution only. Yaya has a sore throat which explains his no show.

It looks like Silva won't start against Roma at any rate. Jovetic must be extremely doubtful and Vinny too. Not great. Will Dzeko turn up and put in a real shift. We should have enough to beat Everton on Saturday though.

Isnt yaya banned for 3 games for the straight red?

I don't think so. I have tried to find out but can't get a definitive answer. I found the EUFA champs league rules and it seems to say it's a one game ban but a panel can increase that if its deemed worthy of further punishment. I'm assuming Yaya is ok but the rules were difficult to decipher.

Silva seen by Doug training one on one today so very unlikely to make the trip to Rome. Pellegrini said on Saturday that Jovetic had a 'small' problem with his hamstring and might be ok for Rome. Fingers crossed. I also saw somewhere that Fernandinho was only rested on Saturday so would be ok for Rome. We should have a decent midfield on Wednesday even without Yaya and Silva. We'll have Fernando, Fernandinho, Milner, Fat Frank and Navas available. Kolarov will be available from the bench too to add width down the Left for half an hour if necessary. The problem is clearly up front. Is Dzeko fit enough for a full game; he didn't look it on Saturday. Is Jovetic available at all. If they were both fit and flying there would be reason for some confidence but there have to be doubts about that. If we get the 2-2 draw or better we need it will be a fantastic achievement.

You may be right Ted. I heard some commentator say we needed 2-2 but that may be wrong. Whatever we have to score that's for sure!
