Went to see the Bayern game and it was shocking to see how much better we were. I think it's time our academy gets some recognition.

This Roma team are no mugs. Decent players, some well built, well organised & hard working. And the pitch was made out of some weird shit which made the ball seem to have elastic bands round it, which made passing at the back dangerous.

They overcame both, & did it with absolute style. Even the home fans were applauding the 4th goal. Like vintage Barca, created by yet another potential star.

You don't read so good do you heehaw?

Strangely assuming they(CSKA) lose, it makes the home loss to them completely irrelevant to us vs Roma. (Draw and win we go through, roma win and they do, even with 3 extra points it doesn't change)

When did the quality of this place fall so far? The words informed debate are just background noise to you aren't they?

How it dosent change 0 0 Roma go and if we win CSKA that would not be the case.In fact we should win CSKA in both games if Roma could destroy them in one and only unlucky draw in last seconds in Moscow. I can t believe that if they beat Bayern they go no matter wht and Bayern is first no matter what , I was thinking maybe they wil have one point in end.

yes yes yes but this thread is about where we are now and what we need to do not where we could've or should've been if results had been different...

No, he's right, if CSKA draw then Roma go through with any draw against us as they have the best record among the three teams equal on points. A draw with Roma is only enough if CSKA lose.

Apologies,

FFS this is more complicated than I thought

Group E
Manchester City will progress to the last 16 if they beat Roma in Italy and CSKA Moscow fail to defeat group winners Bayern Munich in Germany.
Premier League champions City can still progress if they secure a score draw and CSKA Moscow lose to Bayern.
However, if both games end in a draw, then Roma progress.
CSKA Moscow must beat Bayern, and hope Roma do not beat City, to qualify. If CSKA and City both win then the Russians will qualify because of their superior head-to-head record.
Any of the bottom three sides could finish in the Europa League.

All we need do is get out on the pitch, play our football and, irrespective of the result, let EUFA sort out all the potential ramifications.

EUFA are renowned and legendary for their fair-mindedness and transparent honesty.

They are all good guys and would never cheat us, or anyone else for that matter, out of qualifying correctly for the later stages of their wondrously popular competition..........

They have only lost one game in all competitions this season, no prixes for guessing which game that was.

Therefore, I expect Pep to get his troops firing and doing wat they are good at, but I wouldn't say its a given as we have seen CSKA have a bit of pace and trickery up front. Boateng might be in for a game tonight.

Jack Byrne is a quality footballer. We effectively play 2 central midfield players with Kean Bryan sitting deeper than Byrne. Bryan with the defensive role and a quarterback sort of role and Byrne also making the play but in theory further forward and linking much more closely with the striker and 2 attacking wide players.

Whether he will make it at City first team level is the big question and I don't have the answer but surely surely some of this age group will.

Toady's game was a good one and as Ted said Roma were no mugs. They looked decent at our place and far far better than Bayern. We won today without a few obvious players.I am not sure of their ages but no Angelino,Glendon,Ntcham,Pozo,Fofana so an excellent win and it really does augur well for the future.

I didn't see all the game as I only started after about 20 minutes but it was far from easy but once we had scored we were clinical in finishing the game off in style.Celina is really growing on me.He has been played out of position quite a bit recently as a striker and done a jonb for the team but his quality of touch, simple passing and creative passing looks very good and he does score goals. The first one for City today seems quite typical of him. I spoke to him at the CFA opening and he had no answer to why he was being used as a striker especially when Ambrose was also playing. All about experience and I trust Patrick Vieira.

Ambrose goal showed his abilities as a striker but he also gives his all and looks good when he plays the wide role.I liked the little glimpse we got of Garcia too, very exciting.

Thanks Doug. Stuart Brennan was raving at Maffeo's performance. Brandon Barker finished off in style a very good passing move apparently.

I do rate Maffeo very highly as a defender and maybe for once he is a defender first and attacker second which doesn't seem to be the norm nowadays. I think Vieira rates him highly too as he is giving him great experience at various age group levels and in different positions.
