Website TMW(Spanish?) reporting that Atletico have knocked us back on Mandzukic. If true no surprise.

We need a striker but who is available in jan? Aguero is too injury prone and the others are massively over rated.

Mandzucic makes perfect sense to me, an upgrade on the beast and with a few sales well within FFP I would guess

Mandzukic is just about more likeable than Suarez IMO. I'd be glad to not have him.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
Age: 27
Fee: £25m-£30m
Possible suitors: Manchester City or Arsenal would find it hard to resist if such a player entered the market

Allegedly unhappy about frequently being played out of position, Uruguayan striker Cavani has still scored a goal every other game for PSG. His lack of recent form may tempt Laurent Blanc to listen to offers

Florentino Perez says Bale not for sale at any price. Can't see him leaving in January and odds are he'll play another season in Madrid.

Telegraph reporting there is City interest in Bony and that Txiki watched him at Liverpool yesterday. They also suggest Swansea want 30 million and that his wages would total 5 million a year. No idea whether we're really prepared to pay that much on either and how that fits in with FFP restrictions. Still there'll be lots of speculation about our alleged interest in this or that striker until either we buy or loan one or we reach January 31. The odds favour something happening, not out of panic but because we always thought of replacing Negredo but didn't have time to do it before the end of the summer window.

i like bony quite a bit, but 30 million?

i know with negredo's sale it's a net of -5 million (?) but the price is a bit steep. are we really that desperate?

20 seems about right.

The price is steep but we'd have to make it worthwhile for Swansea and they'd want the cash early in the window so they could spend it by January 31. It certainly wouldn't be a panic buy to fill the gap in January because he's presumably pissing off to the ACON with Yaya. I can't see him staying beyond the summer at Swansea though because a bigger club will come in for him either here or abroad.

20, 25, 30....it's hardly the issue.

I do admit he offers something different. I wouldn't get a throbbing hardon if he signed but he could be decent.

Dare I ask, who would give you a 'throbbing hardon' Doomy, if we did sign a player in January (I'm sure I'll regret this question!).
