i do to, but he didnt seem bothered to me, i hope im wron and your right but didnt seem to give 100% maybe i was just fuming i was driving and couldnt have ale but that was not a full on petrov performance(games in short space of time maybe). just interested in anyone elses opinions who was there, watched it on television

Maybe it looked different at the game, because he did look alright going forwards - although there was a little spell where the commentator did mention about Petrov putting in a shift, then all of a sudden he turned up at left back and it wasnt mentioned again.

I suppose we didnt see his whole contribution on tv, but was it any different to what you would expect from Petrov - or for that matter would the alternative (Robbie) have been any different?

If the manager is going to expect a LM who defends, then no doubt we will be seeing a new one in January anyway, and Robbie will be fucked off to Barca

Fans at the game were groaning when he was pulling out of 70/30s in his favour! That was all though.

true.true. would hate to loose him though he can score goals and has blinding pace. just didnt seem himself. only time will tell lots more twists and turns in this season left

Thought he did ok, but more importantly Mancio realised the value of having him on the park to stretch Wolves, they were so scared of the pace of Tevez/Bellers/Petrov and rightly so. Mancio looks like he will set the team up to play to our strengths.

From where I was standing I had a an ideal position to have a good long look at Rigsby in the second half, as I was right by our left wing. He has always seemed a bit tentative in the past about clattering into tackles but it did seem he was going in even more gingerly than usual last night.

Whether that's cos he's a complete glove-wearing-softlad, or is over worried about re-injuring himself against 'the bigger boys' in defence after his knee rehab, I dunno - probably a combination of both.

He also looked knackered on more than one occasion, choosing not to chase down balls that a fully match fit Petrov would be odds on to get to first. That will surely come with more games though.

As for his body language - it really does frustrate me, and always has done. I'd much rather see any player get on with trying to rectify a situation by working his balls off to put it right, rather than go through some theatrical histrionics, jumping up and down in frustration, clasping his hands together and throwing curses toward the heavens - it fools no-one and does the opposite of winning sympathy as it's surely designed to do. Robinho is bad for it also, and defending seems something of a inconvenience for both. Against better teams than Wolves, going through the motions will expose us, as proved against Tottingham.

Riggers covered back ok without really convincing defensively, and was a threat going forward without setting the world alight. I've seen him raise it in bigger games in the past, so plenty more to come I hope. We've got strenghth in that position so it's up to him to raise it. I'm not worried.

There were a number of times where he didn't look 100% commited but there were otrhers where he gave the hard work as well. Most importantly though he contributes a threat and showed some excellent touches. That right footed pass as part of the special move was exceptional.

I was working so was only able to follow the game on Radio Manchester.
There was a comment made regarding Petrov and his tracking back from fred Eyre. He mentioned that Petrov was incapable of defending but last night, he was running back alongside his full back most of the time. Eyre reckoned that did the job as Petrov was not a good defender but just by being there, he stopped the free run. He also commented that because Petrov was trailing him, the full back usually only went forward a few yards before giving up... So in that respect, Petrov was being effective.

Nearly every team in the league would have Petrov in or on the edge of their first 11. That says it all.

We won, 3-0, so who cares if he was being a whimp or in a bad mood etc.

Fair comments Doug and John.

Just watched the highlights again, and that right foot pass, his cushioned through ball to Bellers for a near-miss angled-drive, not to mention a fantastic early cross to Tev were all superb and not the only positives for Petrov going forward. And defensively, yes, it is more effective to track your fullback rather than not at all (Robi take note). I just hope he'll put more of a shift in when we don;t have the ball against teams with more in their locker on their right side, cos he's gonna have to.

I'm confident he'll step it up though - I don't want to appear like I'm slagging him off to much as I do like him as a player and I'd be gutted if we sold him, especially to that sag-faced crook at Spuds.

He did keep shirking challenges but thats his usual bitch-like self? Although Im sure he didnt celebrate one of our goals, and if thats true, its something i hate. Like adebayor a few weeks back.
