What a great day of football. The Rags start it off with a completely useless showing against a stubborn Stoke then the Arse go and lose against the mighty Saints who in-turn get themselves up into the CL places, only a point behind the useless Rags who've spent nearly £250 million to buy the Wenger Cup. Dippers get handed the game by the ref only for them to fall apart when the ref can give them no more, squandering the 2 goal lead, at home, against the bottom of the league. Brenda must be so proud of his men, almost exstatic/

And the cherry on top of the cake, Spurs spank Maureen's arse, like a bad baby who needed teaching a lesson, it was glorious.

Defo got to watch MotD tonight, I could do days like today all over again, it was that good.

We Are Top Of The League, We're Top Of The League ............. (with Chelsea) ;-)

Like only letting in 3 ?

I suppose that counts as something in Spurs world though.

Has twhat shitty goal cost us top spot ?

We have identical records down to goals scored and conceded, so yes, it looks like it has. No way will we be allowed to be above them. Bummer

It's interesting that Chelsea, who by all accounts have been scoring goals for fun and who had the League title all wrapped up by the end of October, have only scored the same number of goals as we have.

That also takes into account the fact that we started the season slowly with some adverse results along the way, we haven't fully got back into top gear just yet and for the last month we've had no strikers.

Apart from that, Mourinho's miserly, highly disciplined, rigidly drilled defence has conceded the same number of goals as our supposedly shambolic back line.

It's a funny old game and what is even more funny is that we're seventeen points above last season's all conquering heroes from Scouseland.

It's all about perception. In particular the one the media persist in portraying to us.

Being saying it for quite a while but if we get to the end of February, still in touch with Chelsea, then I fancy us. Things are going a lot better for us than I anticipated. We are coping really well with the injury crisis, although you don't hear much praise in the media.
Lots of twists and turns to come but I love the way we are handling adversity.

Sky say Chelsea stay top on alhabetical order. Complete bollocks. Alphabetical order is a journalistic convenience and has nothing to do with Premier League rules. We are joint top and should be bracketed together as such in any self respecting media outlet.

And they were banging on before the game about Costa scoring for fun with 13 goals like he was the standout striker in the league, completely ignoring the guy who spends half the season injured and still has more than him(okay it's even after the match, but this was before)

Happy new year to you too sir.

My bad it seems. I reckon we should be top courtesy of more away goals. Won't be long before we are top in our own right imo

Mourinho says referee didn't keep up with play. Admits individual errors ( not his fault then). Echos of whisky nose saying 'not fit'.

If us and the chavs finished the season with identical records, would there be some sort of play off?

So predictable from Maureen. Get that tin-hat on pal, they're all out to get you. Well, suck it up dick-weed, we're coming to get you!

Manager reaction

Tottenham 5-3 Chelsea

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on BT Sport: "I don't want to be punished. I want to be around for the next match so I prefer to say that we just lost. Tomorrow is another day.

"Every game is unpredictable but there are things in the game that are becoming predictable.

"Of course I hate to lose but I prefer to lose like I did against Newcastle with a clean performance from referee Martin Atkinson and an unlucky performance by us. But in a game when you lose because of football is a different feeling.

"You pay well to your pundits so hopefully they will say it is true."

Here's more from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think at 2-0 [to Chelsea, if they had been awarded and scored a penalty] it would have killed the game. We had the biggest opportunity in the game to score the second goal which is a shot from the penalty spot.

"At 2-0 I don't think they have a chance to change the game against a side like Chelsea. We trust a lot in our game. Maybe it is not enough. We had some individual problems against a fast and powerful Chadli and the movement of Kane.

"Fatigue plays a part for everybody. That is the Premier League, it is not easy for any club, we are no exception."
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Thanks Beefy. I think he's trying to say that it was the 5 Spurs goals which changed the game. LOL

No, Chelsea would get it as they've been the better team.

"Every game is unpredictable but there are things in the game that are becoming predictable.

Like your press match shit after the game?

"Of course I hate to lose but I prefer to lose like I did against Newcastle with a clean performance from referee Martin Atkinson and an unlucky performance by us. But in a game when you lose because of football is a different feeling."

You called Dowd a cheat, Newcastle lucky and you lost for a number of reasons, not a one of them can be summed up by saying " because of football"

"You pay well to your pundits so hopefully they will say it is true."

As opposed to what you say.

"At 2-0 I don't think they have a chance to change the game against a side like Chelsea. We trust a lot in our game. Maybe it is not enough. We had some individual problems against a fast and powerful Chadli and the movement of Kane."

There was a point at which you were 2-1 down, or even a point at which you were down by 2 and you claim Tottenham couldn't have come back from that like Chelsea could. You had your half time talk down by 2, so you obviously because Chelsea who could come back didn't, you didn't do your job and your trust in your game was not rewarded, maybe you should address that.

"Fatigue plays a part for everybody. That is the Premier League, it is not easy for any club, we are no exception."

Actually you are an exception, as are Manchester City, it's called squad depth and not a single one of the other 18 teams in the league can do what we do, we are by the very definition of the word, exceptions.

Funny the way he puts it across that Chelsea were 2-0 up and would've won if Spurs hadn't scored a handful.

Poor boy.

Did City draw against Burnley just to pump Maureens blood pressure up again ?.

The delusional is losing it.
Edit:

Pelle is quoted in the press today , saying we take it one game at a time. We'll worry about Chelsea , the week we play them. Far more level headed and realistic than Maureen.
