Milner is so much better. Sick of the Jovetic hype, he's been rubbish in every appearance since Liverpool.

Hyperbole ? since when is stating a 'fact' hyperbole ? You are reading way too much into things.

Furthermore 'tabloid-style'. ....

Ahh ! just got it. .. you are basically meaning ' +1 ' .
Very good ! had me fooled for a moment.

Jovetic WAS shite. The guy tries far too hard and ends up looking like a twat more often than not. Good player but I'm not quite sure where he fits in.

My problem with Jovetic isn't with his talent, cos he clearly has it, it's just that he sadly looks like he's playing in a different team. He either needs to learn to play our way, or we need to learn to play his way. Probably a bit of both tbh, but it for some reason doesn't look likely.

That's the problem, you have little confidence he could play a full game or two consecutive ones. At the start of the season and preseason he looked fit and stronger than last season and then he gets injured again.

I'm not sure how much is real injuries and how much is him not feeling 100% and not being ready to play. Unless things change over the next few months, I don't see him being here next season, especially if we're going to persist with 3 strikers and one of them being Aguero.

For me Jovetic is a quality player and I really hope he stays as one of 3 strikers.I would definitely have him before Edin. That doesn't mean I don't want Edin around as he has been good for City and especially in the run in last season where he showed his great value.

Injuries have been a problem of course for Jovetic but they are too for Aguero and we wouldn't want to get rid of him would we? I still don't think he is 100% settled in the team when he plays. You can see the team's approach with intricate passing and movement and great patience but I always get the feeling with Jovetic that he is in a hurry to make things happen. The fact that he has real quality though should not be ignored and he will score goals for us throughout the season and in big games.

Doug, Jovetic is even more unreliable than Aguero injuries wise and far lass productive when fit.

If we go back to 4 strikers, he might be worth keeping to see if we can get him to fit in, but it's too much of a risk with just 3. He also needs to play off another striker, which limits him even more when we've only for 3 and 1 is Aguero. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but I'm not sure it'll work for him here.

I think this applies some of the time, but consider the first half - what exactly was the plan? Our style, as far as I see it, involves quick movement and passing in and around the area. We had Jesus and Milner the full width of the pitch apart, Lampard hitting long balls down the middle from the halfway line, Fernando in our own box and Yaya not sure where to be. Jovetic was the only one taking the ball and trying to make things happen around the box, and he invariably failed as it was him against three defenders who were allowed to assault him on occasion. He was largely ineffective today, but it was only partly his fault.

It was a stupid, flat, gutless, shitty fucking team selection, & when I saw it, I wished I'd fucking stayed at home. When Wednesday scored, it was EXACTLY what I expected from the moment I saw it. Old, fucking Lampard, with Yaya & Fernando, then Milner & fucking Navas, & fucking Kolarov!

Do me a favour.

Jovetic was crap for the most part, but hardly surprising.

I agree it was an uninspiring selection, Ted - but what team would you have picked? Just out of curiosity.

Simplest one would be to swap Frank for either Nasri or Silva & Navas for Brandon Barker. Then hope we get ahead early doors & if so bring on Celina for say Nasri. If not, we have to swap Silva for Nasri.

I'd have played Angelino & let him & Barker attack the left side together with Milner in charge of watching over.

Jovetic
Barker Yaya Nasri
Milner Fernandinho
Angelino, Mangler, Dedders, Sagna

Bit worried that this five trophies in as many years thing has Pellers protecting his own back to be honest. Yesterday has genuinely made me feel really glum with regards to the chances of our EDS kids getting a chance.

Would have loved to have seen that team too but dunno if we ever will see him be that adventurous to be honest.

We have all these kids, plus the ones on loan, then by next year, Manu Garcia etc are a year older.

So what happens then ? Seeing as we haven't even given Barker, for instance, one second of Prem experience, what do we do with him when Rony comes back & what do we do with Garcia ?

The League Cup/FA Cup next year, who gets the chance then, seeing as none have got the chance now ? Next season we could have Barker, Pozo, Lopes, Ambrose, Celina, Boadu, all absolutely raring to play at Prem level in similar roles. How can they, seeing as they have hardly any experience even at Cup level ?

We will have probably two more new signings to fit in. How do we decide which of those academy players gets a chance when we haven't looked properly at even ONE of them so far ?

Most of them will have to go out on loan, even if they could be exactly what we need in our squad, because we have no fucking idea if they have it or not.

It's fucking nonsense.

We need to start using some of these kids, NOW. Even if it's just for ten minutes.

What pisses me off is I KNOW, at least one of them, will show something, even right now. I fucking know it. We would find one player, who grabbed the chance & became a viable first team option.

But we are unlikely to even see one of them, for ten minutes.

Having watched Peter Barnes etc come into a top side, & seen how it can work, it's so frustrating when you see the potential for the same thing to be happening right now; it's just perfect for it, other than the manager doesn't have the balls to do it.

Of course if all of them go on loan, it doesn't mean they won't become stars at City, the whole lot may come back as much better players, but my point is; they may not need to go on loan! They may be almost good enough now, & become good enough after playing with Silva for two games.

you dont win anything with kids! Apparently.....well its a good rule of thumb, however, we do need to start blooding some, but we are not putting sides to the sword and when we do, we still dont bring them on. Prime example for me was the Crystal Palace game, cruising, 3-0, 80 mins we use our 3rd and final sub and we bring on Fernando, replacing Milner! We had Ambrose sat on the bench FFS.

I'm too young to remember Peter Barnes but I do remember the feeling of pride and excitement when we saw SWP come through, and I fucking loved it. Same with Johnson, Ireland and Richards.

I remember watching Ishmael Miller tear Newcastle a new one down the left thinking he might actually develop into what Heskey was at Leicester. A big rampaging bully of a winger. Limited, but fun. I thought Nedum should have been the kind of player that developed into our O'Shea or Phil Neville - solid squad players that would be with us for fucking ages. Kasper coming through and thinking we had our own great Dane.

I always thought Stephen Jordan was shite...

I digress.. but yeah I agree. It frustrates the life out of me. I'll be honest, I can't help but feel a tiny bit desensitised to big money signings at the moment. It's like getting everything you want as a kid; you feel a bit spoiled. Sometimes you want to work for something and do it yourself - I grew up when we were the plucky underdogs and watching us take a relative unknown and seeing them develop into our idols over team, be it good or bad (Kinky, Goater, Tiatto, Rosler etc) was always really really exciting. I know it's unlikely that we'll see us sign a potential star for next to nothing these days given the level that we're operating at so the next best thing I guess is bringing our own through. And we can do it.

I'm absolutely 100% convinced, like you and many others are Ted, that we have some players in our youth team that are nailed on to be great footballers and that there are some that can do it now. Not two years from now, but like, 24 hours ago. Yeah, they won't be perfect, but fucking hell, if Ferguson can NEARLY make Luke Chadwick a star - he played in the CL quarter final ffs! - then what the fuck does Brandon Barker have to do? You just HAVE to trust in youth. It'd change the clubs dynamic and the feel good factor around the whole Etihad Campus would be tangible. This bunch of players is ten times better than the players we had coming out of our academy in the early 2000s.

The current team selections in cup competitions are really really depressing and if I was Ambrose, Pozo, Barker, Celina, Bryan or someone like that i'd feel a tiny bit fed up. Justifiably I reckon. Last night basically sent out a message to the EDS team that most are miles off, and that's just unfair imo.

Pellegrini saw the League Cup as his banker but the players let him down, so I dont think we will be seeing any gambles from him for the rest of the season. Maybe we can win the league with a few games to spare because that's the only chance the youngsters have of making an appearance.
