La Liga

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

La Liga

Postby Wonderwall » Mon Jan 05, 2015 12:59 pm

I watched the La Liga games yesterday as well as the FA Cup games and also the darts, it was a good relaxing Sunday before going back to work, but the missus wasn't happy! Anyway, onto my point, as I was channel hopping between darts sets, I started watching the Espanyol v Eibar game. These are tow teams in the top half of La Liga, OMG what total dross. Our very own Felipe Caicedo scored for Espanyol who lost 2-1. However, Eibar brought on a centre forward called Dejan Lekic (Serbian). I honestly could not understand how a top level footballer could look like that? He stands 6' 4" but has the physique of Razor Ruddock (now), along with the physical attributes of being such a build brings into the equation. He made one sprint (well an attempt to increase speed out of a jog to something faster) and then had to take a breather, even the commentators were taking the piss.

I cannot even think of a UK equivalent, maybe Fat Bob Taylor but much worse and in the top flight!

In all honesty outside the top few teams in Spain the rest could play in ice skates and nobody would notice. Call it bias but I honestly will always hold the prem far higher than la logs because of the competiveness and sometimes real quality from top to bottom.
Tracking back is overrated.

There was a bloke like that in recent times, playing for one of the usual suspects, I think in the Championship.

Not a regular first choice, but I think he had been until being replaced. Just basically a doorman who likes beer. But he has played vs top teams in cups. Can't remember who he is.

There was one albeit in better shape, who kept Utd in the cup yesterday, but at least he's not top level.

It is what happens when the set up leads to a national league to become all about 2 - 4 teams. Certainly the case in La Liga - and of course elsewhere - how many of the teams beyond the top 2 - 4 would survive in the Championship let alone the Premier League.

It is exactly how our league could have become if the old guard would have had their way.

Also, as the top La Liga teams consider how to increase their revenue streams and old guard teams in Italy, for example, lose their places at the through and and others, such as scouse and scum here look to cement their 'deserved through history' place - I get more and more worried about a European Super leage - but that is another thread.

He also looks as though he lives on a diet of chips and dumplings.

Must admit, the thought of chips and dumplings on the same plate together sounds rather appetising.

Must be getting near to the time for me to have my tea.
