He was also the next big thing, and I know he had injuries by us but he's not exactly ripping up trees at Sunderland. We seem to be falling into the "next big thing must have him trap" quite a bit. Sinclair??

I think he has the ability to be a fantastic player. However, I get an uneasy feeling with him, like he tries to do too much and I think he needs that coaching out of him. I think he is certainly one of those players that could take the step up to the highest level and play with top players. Injuries are also a concern, even now, which is a worry again.

If we ship out nasty and sinclair surely a hefty amount off the wage bill, plus a few bob in transfer kitty, then we should be able to bring in one player in Jan?

Goal says Aston Villa closing on 2.5 million deal for Scott Sinclair assuming Lambert doesn't get the boot. Please happen.

One thing to bear in mind is the current turmoil at Barcelona. Massive unhappiness with current manager and board. Messi said to be very unsettled. If he does come loose I'd bet the sheikh would shelve everything else to try to get him to City. Put it another way the sheikh won't want to be beaten to his signature by Abramovic or Qatar( PSG).

Still odds very much against but this could blow out of the water any other conceivable transfer story. The commercial implications of getting his signature, never mind the playing implications, are absolutely massive.

He'll probably end up staying at Barca when it comes down to it but the chances of him leaving have never been higher. If he's available we'll be in there of that I have no doubt. And if Soriano and Txiki think there's a decent sniff I can't see them splurging 45 million on Barkley or anyone else to be honest. Doubt anything will happen in January, more likely the summer, but definitely one to watch.

Barca just fired Zubizaretta, Director of Football. Luis Enrique dodged a massive bullet there but for how long?

fuck messi!! we don't need him anymore. we need the new messi, ideally from our EDS. splashing a billion quid on the old messi would only give the press, UEFA and the other haters more ammunition against us.

You're probably right, especially in the longer term but, from our owner's perspective, the world-wide publicity that such a transfer would generate for City and their country could be colossal and would, therefore, be deemed to be beneficial irrespective of its tone.

If nothing else, Platini would be apoplectic with rage against us and he might even blow a gasket and expire instantly.

One can only live in hope.

Barca would bottle it and offer to pay his taxes for the rest of his life and any back tax owed.... they cannot afford to lose him.

Can't see them selling Messi in this calendar year, as the transfer ban (if upheld) would prevent them of spending any of the money.

Carles Puyol leaves Barca. He was Zubizarreta's assistant so I suppose not surprising. That's him out of the advert!

Yep ^

That's it in a nutshell. I don't think he'll leave until he's old and relatively washed up tbh - about two or three years from now he will start to decline a lot I reckon a bit like Henry did at Arsenal one season.

By that point there itd be pointless.

Sergio is kicking a football. Tweets that he's moving slowly to full fitness. Should be back fully fit for Chelsea but probably not Arsenal, I guess.

Messi is the player who would take City to another level, on & off the pitch. He would end up making us money, & the fanbase would go through the roof. We would grab so many kids as supporters worldwide, from that one move, it would transcend all other considerations.

i would rather have Ronaldo than Messi right now. Especially given what our needs are.

We have players who could play with the tranny 1000% more effectively than Messi.

Since we're doing fantasy football type bullshit, i thought i'd just add that little nugget.

And i think neither of them is going anywhere, soon.

cheers
