POSSIBLE REGROUPING OF SINGERS IN THE STADIUM

Postby Wonderwall » Wed Jan 07, 2015 2:21 pm

The 1894 Group have approached the Club with regards to reconfiguring singers within the stadium. We believe this is the single best way we can improve the atmosphere from the start of the 2015-2016 season and we are supported in that view by the official Manchester City supporters club.
We now have a golden opportunity to do this which cannot be missed. Due to the South Stand 3rd tier extension, away fans will now be split over three thinner blocks over three tiers. This also means that blocks 115 and half of block 114 are amongst the new blocks that become free.
This will give City fans a bigger presence behind the goal. As close to “a full end” as we are ever going to achieve.
If we get the right people into this area it will link up the current “loud” areas between 109 and 119.
The club are receptive to this idea and at this stage we simply need to see what sort of demand there is for such an initiative so we can go back to them with rough numbers of people who would relocate to this area.
We need the right people in this area, people who are going to sing, don’t mind standing up and aren’t against the use of flags and banners.
We need responses in by midnight on 22nd January - this is not a firm commitment but just enables us to go back to the club with a level of interest. The club will then make formal announcements between the middle and end of February.
Please respond to email address at the bottom of this message if you would be interested in moving to this new dedicated singing area, if you have friends/family who would also like to move please indicate the total number of people on your email.
FAQ
Who is this open to?
Existing 2014-2015 Season Card holders ONLY who will be renewing for the 2015-2016 season.
Which Blocks will the area be in?
South Stand Tier 1, Block 115 and half of Block 114.
How much will these tickets be?
These will be priced at the same price as all other South Stand Lower Blocks. Adult Season 2014-2015 prices were £585 Gold and £635 Platinum, and we foresee a small rise on this for the 2015-2016 Season.
Will there be an opportunity for members or people on the waiting list to move to this area?
Not at present but this is something we might be able to explore at a later stage.
Please drop a mail to - membership1894group@yahoo.co.uk to register your interest in moving.

Would make sense for the club to send an email along these lines to all season ticket holders.

A great idea. Hope it all works.

I'll be staying in the miserable senile old cunts' area, as it makes me feel superior, being merely a miserable old cunt..

I was on the front row of 302 for the Sheff game, & it brought home to me just how difficult it is to create an atmos in that stadium.
It's fucking vast. Even though the Sheff fans were singing their bollocks off & occasionally hitting quite a few dBs, it's like they are in another ground. The way the sound travels does not make you feel a part of it.

Maine Rd to this like the difference between watching a band from the back of a huge stadium or the front of the stalls in a concert hall. 7k away fans in Maine Rd felt as if they were right on top of you, as did our fans singing. Much more likely to get the rest of the ground joining in.

Here, even when the fns do sing in another area of the ground, it feels like it's happening outside. You only feel part of it when it's nearby.

I've heard the acoustic design of the new roof will be different, to try & help the sound travel, as the current roof is designed to absorb it. I hope that works too.

I have moved from block 111 to 302 for the rest of the season starting from the Arsenal Game. I am hoping its a good view as I will be leaving the block where it is loudest.

I will go back to 111 next season though, unless I can get 3rd tier Row A which I would like!

What genius engineer decided to build a roof to absorb sound in a stadium?

That's the fucker who should never work again, not Chedwyn Evans, Rapist.

cheers

I'm in 3rd tier row D, it's a fantastic view. I'm on the half-way line, mind.

I'm in the family stand and the only fans you can ever hear are the foreign ones, usually the Germans, who I think must bring their own Marshall stack.

As for the "singing" section, it just seems to be a standing section from where we are. Hopefully the new roof will make a difference, as I'm not convinced the atmosphere is worse than Maine Rd, it just sounds it.

Wembley was the worse though - the semi against the rags a few years ago was unbelievable for noise throughout the game. I was struggling to hear what the person next to me said. The rags though never made a sound. Spoke to a rag mate behind the other goal and he said the exact same thing about us. For the final, I was top tier on the side and both the City and Stoke fans were loud.

We need to get some acoustic engineers in and get them to do the exact opposite of what they'd normally do
