Not exactly a fan but he's nowhere near as bad as some of the others we have to put up with.

Seem to recall him shouting "Get In"when Sergio potted the 3rd vs Bayern. There are far far worse than him out there - 90% of them on BT Sport.

Im of the opinion that a game of football, or indeed any sport, only needs one commentator...we managed on one for years...I'm quite old fashioned

He certainly did, I've always thought he was one of the better ones.

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed from the stories I've heard (and from the obvious evidence of his analysis), apparently struggling to get to grips with cues, graphics and replays despite so long in the job. At least he sounds genuinely excited about what he is watching though, rather than the likes of Lawrenson and Owen who think they are there to naysay everything and cast a dour light on the game as a whole.

That's probably why he's getting the boot.

"Way better than Owen", hardly a ringing endorsement

He was on the piss at Doha Golf Club with Andy Gray and (randomly) Nicky Summerbee last Thursday, which gives a reasonable idea as to where he's gonna end up.

I think he obviously has enthusiasm for the games he's commentating on and is far from the worst out there, he will be a good addition to the team out here, so long as he doesn't bring his fucking tactics truck!

Not especially pleased nor otherwise to hear he is going. A long way from the worst colour commentator

Static is more informative and less painful on the ears than Owen.
