I've waited my whole life to see us win a trophy, not to finish 4th, and so that isn't going to change now.
Arsenal haven't won anything for 4 years, yet they've finished in the top 4 each time. There is not anything exciting about that nor is that anything to be proud of.
Clubs are there to win trophies and fans (I'd like to think) watch their team in the hope of winning a trophy.
We watch football for enjoyment purposes don't we? Are people honestly saying they would take celebrating achieving 4th away to West Ham on the last day of the season over watching us win a trophy at Wembley?
Yes, because I believe finishing 4th this year would allow us to obtain more trophies for the future. Once we have Champions League to offer players the sky is the limit.

"Good evening Mr Maicon, How do you fancy Champions League next season and 140k a week wages?"
"I will be right over, please ignore my agent's previous comments about you being a small club it was all in jest, honest!"

At the moment though it's top 4. And for the slightly tainted reason that Arsenal and Liverpool would both rather us win the cup. There's vulnerability at the moment and it's a tight time to try and go toe to toe in the spending stakes.
We need to break the top 4 before we can establish ourselves and there's no reason to think it'll be easier next year. We have a fight on our hands and the sooner we do it the better.

Maybe its because Im an old bugger that I want it that way round. Back in the good old, bad old days coming anything other than first was no good. Top four nowadays is more for the need for money (for the sky four)than winning the Carling cup.
Once we get our first cup, hopefully this year, then we can aim for Premier League Champions. Top four isn't a trophy.

I'm 32 and want a trophy more than anything, I went to school at a time when the muens dominated and won pot after pot. I want the next generation of young blues to grow up being able to go into school and sing ' championies'!! I also want the streets of Manchester turned blue with thouands of us lining the streets for a parade. You only get to do this with a trophy.
