Maybe Zabba, but he's doing as bad apparently.

Theres no "apparently" about it, Zabba's been fookin awful for the majority of the season. Looks knackered and badly in need of a rest.

this WC shit has him knackered. He could use just about 2 months sitting on a beach and playing with his kids, etc....understandable actually. He put in a shift this summer and when coupled with the stress of the actual tourney it's almost like half another season imho.

No worries with Pablo. He'll be back to his best next season, but i'm sure he's harder on himself than any of us are. He's a fucking legend.

Agreed. Tbh Id tell him to go away for 2 weeks somewhere hot now, have a break, and come back in mid-March for a final push. Then he should take 5 weeks off fully in the summer with zero football.

He played virtually all of last season with Richards being injured or totally shit, then the WC and then straight in to this season and unlike Kompany/Silva/Aguero hasn't really had major time off injured either.

He was already shagged out during the World Cup, due to having to do the whole season pretty much on his own last time.

Hopefully he gets his legs back next season. If not we have a problem.

Given how fucking great was when he came on against Liverpool in the EDS game I honestly think Maffeo could be ready in a year or so. He was brilliant. Changed the whole game - like a little Zaba clone. Denayer too as discussed the other day could defo handle it and excel.

I think we could solve the problem basically.

I think you are right.

But Zabba is Zabba.

World wouldn't be the same if he wasn't playing regularly.

He is, but his only fault, if he has one, is that he's only a kind of Jovetic sized dude. Not even John Terry/Nastasic size.

But he is fast, great at tackling, skilled & intelligent. So we recon he could do Zabba or Fernando's job, possibly sooner, than he would do Kompany's.

Love Zabaletta too. I would be very disappointed if he didn't find a way to get himself back to his best. It's what I admired most about him when he wasn't first choice when he came here. He worked his ass off until he became indispensable.
Having said that, I hope you are right about Denayer. I've only seen him at Celtic, but I think he looks more of a footballer than Fernando, who I'm really not convinced by.
It's his first season and using Zabba as an example, I'd say give the lad a chance, but if we have people better suited to the role coming through the ranks, why not give them a chance, instead of buying.
There seems to be young lads at the club that can pass better and have better technical ability and supposedly know the City system. Use them.

We should have sent Zaba to the Windies with Sterling. That seems to be something Brenda got spot on.

Denayer is 6 foot. That's half an inch off what Maldini is. He'll be fine.

Edit: he's 1 inch shorter than Terry.

Lopes and Denayer are two absolute top class potential players. Both have a good physique, brains, pace, power and great technical ability.

I will seriously lose faith in this management team if we fuck it up with them two.

I'd be disappointed if Lopes didn't get a chance here next season.

Same. I like Navas - i think he gets a hard time. He's not great, but he is effective and he is a champions league player and the kind of player that you pay £15m for and is usually the best player in a mid table team. He ends up an effective and often used squad player for a top club.... BUT we shouldn't be buying players like him if we have a good academy.

Lopes should be at LEAST that for us. He can be better (i reckon he could reach a Sanchez level at his very, very peak) potentially but that's his very least ability in my opinion and it should be with us and it should save us a lot of money. It's like Pedro or something - not world class, but very effective for Barca over the years and home produced. Why can't Lopes do that at least for us?

Denayer is a class act. But if he was playing tomorrow night Stoke would tear him a new arsehole simply by putting Crouch on him.

He is not tall for a cb & not as dominant in the air as anybody in that position currently in our first team squad. He may become so, because unlike Nastasic for instance, he battles like fuck. But there's a chance he may never quite be strong enough in the air for the Premier League.

If that should happen he could still make it in another position. I imagine he is probably stronger in the air than Zabba now, plus quicker & he is a good tackler. So right back could be a less problematic position in which to start him in the first team, if he is to play regularly.

We should get an idea pre season of how he's come on compared to what we have already.

Not having that Ted, Crouch is nothing without service, he is no Monster ! Look at the 20 yr old at Liverpool last night Chan, he has slotted into a back 4 from midfield. Played against Carrol, Kane two vastly different players ok got clobbered by Carrol who does'nt, he can play from the back. If the team are matching the opos for work rate like tonight and like we almost always do at home to SCFC then the ability shines through plus a touch of luck. City need to be getting the YOUNGER players in and take a risk on one or two Kane was in League 1 last season ffs, Looking at the game last night very open and fast, we are not fast,we are very open, for me worrying signs last nightand why with the likes of Milner the dippers are looking likea team. we need the likes of Denayer, Lopez even Guidetti to fail here not out on loan, at least we can see they were short. The policy this year has failed with the cups not sure the loan works as it seems a step out of the club and good bye.
