Fingers crossed. Have high hopes for him now, not just for this season. Though surely one or both of Navas and Milner should play to service him?

He isn't all about just crosses but seems to be good at the short passing interplay as well. Better had be anyway.

No Milner today but I would not be surprised if Kolarov plays.

Fair point about the passing game. I'm sure we wouldn't have bought a player who can't do that. However, I for one am hoping we utilise pace on the counter through the channels with him in the middle to finish it off. Also his presence at set plays is something I hope he brings to the table

I desperately want our new signing to be a resounding success for us, as I'm sure we all do but, given our goal scoring and attacking play hopes for the rest of the season which are now resting, to some extent unfairly, on his shoulders, I just hope that it doesn't all end in tears.

At the moment, I just can't stop the more pessimistic elements of my thoughts coming to the fore.

Please let these be completely misplaced.

Well it's him & Aguero really isn't it ? If the other two hit a purple patch, then it's a bonus, but realistically, if we are going to win the title, we need Aguero, Bony, probably both, to be right on it for the rest of the season.

I would have been happy with Iheanacho coming into the team (had he been fit/permitted), & not spending, but since we went after Bony, I've become a convert. He was obviously pretty dangerous v City last season, & he was very worrying at our place, but I didn't realise until I youtubed it, just how good he actually was in that away game last season. Alright it was a day when both Nastasic & Kolarov were playing & they wre both fucking useless, but he gave Vinny, Zabs, Fernandinho some proper nightmares as well.

Looking at it with hindsight, we hit a peak last season, when we were quite possibly the best team in Europe. We lost Aguero (again) & the focus was on that, but what we didn't realise, was that we were actually losing Negredo. He was around for another six months & we won the title, but in reality he'd gone. He was Corradi or Samaras, not the Beast. We were never that team again, even though we won the league.

If Bony does settle quickly he potentially offers us the ability to play that way once again, then I'll be happy even if we don't win the title tbh. It will mean we are ready to kick the shit out of everybody once again, next season.

Let's hope he remembers who's name is on the front of the shirt when he exchanges orange for blue.

Is that from when Mario visited Abu Dhabi ?

Just thinking about Wilf, & it's not impossible Dzeko could enjoy playing next to him. Edin isn't the best target man, but although he's not the quickest, he does like to run in behind a defence, & Bony could possibly be quite suited to feeding him & take the pressure off him; holding the ball up.

I think it's the reverse, Edin drifts left a lot and I think he could be the angled run and cut back for Bony. Lesbian has already told him where to be and if he listens Dzeko can find him.

I'm actually meaning when both are in the centre & the ball is knocked up there say by a cb or Fernadinho, Yaya, or if Hart miskicks & misses the lino by 20 yards & accidentally hits the ball toward our cf.

Normally Dzeko would be the one trying & failing to get to get on the end of any such pass, but Bony is something of a master of the chest control etc, & Dzeko could actually benefit from a flick through the offside trap, or even a 3rd man passing move involving Bony.

He's scored plenty of goals like that for us, & for Wolfsburg. It might not be just Aguero who benefits from having Bony next to him.

I'm with you on this, I think Dzeko is hugely important for us, he's having a bad season but he has scored important goals for us and is directly responsible in a very visible manner for two titles. With CL games coming up and if they are serious about taking a pop at it and the title, I think we need 3 strikers firing. Jovetic on the other hand I think we disagree on, so let's leave him out of this thread.

If Bony and Aguero can develop a relationship like Negredo/Aguero had before the injuries then if Chelsea win the title, they'll have deserved it. And we can't ask for more than that.

I said that when he came on, sadly we till don't know what to do on corners. although Kolarov's delivery is MUCH better than Nasri's and Silva's attempts at corners

Also - I need to write to the club and tell Mr Pellegrini that you DO NOT make a sub on 59 minutes, you wait until the 60th minute so I can get my full quota of fantasy points.

Just noticed that both Aguero and Dzeko will be suspended if they receive a booking against Barca tomorrow. Wouldn't be the biggest surprise ever if Bony was a lone striker in the second leg.

Corners were great v Newcastle.

Some of the best I've seen in the league this season from anyone. Obviously been doing a lot of work on it, but tbh with no Dzeko or Negredo in the team, we don't usually have many players to aim for.

If we fuck up v Barca & things get desperate, corners, crosses could get us back in the tie.

I'd like to point out I said on the hour mark he should sub Aguero off, Pellers obviously missed my post this week.
