The majority of this squad is made up of the same players who won the league under Mancini and then proceeded to fuck up the defence of their title the following season. Tonight 8 of the starting 11 won the league in 2012. Whilst not excusing Pellegrini the players need looking at - it can't be a coincidence that history is repeating itself. The club thought that Mancini's hard-line approach was alienating the players so they brought in a manager who is seen to be more approachable and less distant yet the same old shit is happening again. Two differing managerial styles - one end result

Very true and on the back of a defensive system that he has totally eroded. Last season we still had a system in place that allowed for an attacking mindset. This season it's long past that date and the players no longer trust each other to do their jobs; lack of responsibility if you may.

I love attacking football and had a go at Mancini's defensive style but this is the total opposite of what I would be looking for. It's like we are so arrogant that we will still try to out-score the oppo and forget about the defence. It's Wenger-esque for fuck sake!

I like Pellers, I don't want him sacked, but fuck me, he's proved to be shite in various aspects.

You make a good point about the defence. Last season's system worked as we had a more solid back 4. This year Kompany and Zaba have been way below their best and left-back is an on-going problem and as a result we look likely to concede every time a team attacks us

That's the point some are ignoring. We played all of the systems, under Mancini, that season, which people are saying we need now.

Last season, we attacked, which they all wanted, & the fans wanted, & won the title. Systems are not the main problem.

But none of that has any relevance on today's result. A point was no good either. We scored zero goals, v Burnley.

I'm sure there is some truth in that, but not enough to excuse that, after 10 days off.

I can't believe the players don't care about winning. They looked happy winning the titles and cups etc.

'Not care' is the wrong word i suppose.

Not care enough to produce the goods when it needs a bit extra, is more apt. If we'd got a new manager at Christmas, we'd probably get 6 months extra effort out of them, & they'd look like Champs, maybe win it, before they start this again & he has to go.

How can 2 of the best defensive players of last season, who were being tipped as the best in their positions, suddenly go to shit?

It's a trust thing and whether it's Pellers or Txiki's style, it doesn't matter, it really has affected our season.

The lack of confidence in the defence must have a knock-on effect on the rest of the team. Players are more likely to feel confident playing a swashbuckling style of football if they know that they can rely on the defence to keep the opposition out when they counter. There is also too much hesitation from a back 4 shorn of confidence and as a result we aren't playing the ball out from the back as well as we used to. This results in us giving possession back to the opposition and makes it harder for us to generate any tempo or sustained pressure which was a hallmark of last season's in-form team

For all the bleating from us, we know this bunch of cunts have previous ! To lose a cup final to a bag of shite, tonight is no fucking surprise to me, this squad need a long hard look in the mirror, we got rid of an abrasive character, we have a nice guy now with a noose around his neck. Players are a disgrace and have fooked this season off a long time ago. Winners do it every season, not like a tap when they decide, CUNTS who do not give a toss !

Quite simple. You're used to getting a ball from your midfield, one played from the keeper. All of a sudden you're getting balls spanked over the top from the defender, in a panic state, to the smallest player on the field. Surely you know the craic?

The main problem with our defence, IMO. is every week we have 4 different players in front of Hart .surely that also has an effect. Not that I'm blaming that against Burnley . Lack of effort for me and I couldn't see it changing whoever pellers brought on .

I'm sure there is some truth in that, but not enough to excuse that, after 10 days off.

Players at fault for me to a large extent but I couldn't help feel that it would have made more sense to revert to 1 up top and 5 in midfield with 20 to go as Burnley were dealing with 2 up top all too easily. Their no nonsense traditional centre halves were finding marking 2 centre forwards very easy. Playing one up top and allowing Silva the right to roam would have taken them out of their comfort zone and pulled them out of shape. If that hadn't worked then I'd have gone 3 at the back with 10 to go - the title rested on it after all.

So I guess I also blame pellers.

For Barca we must go 5 in the middle and 1 up top. Pinch a goal keep it disciplined at the back and with 10 mins left go for broke for the second.
