A great way of putting this season behind us.

Congrats on the 1k! Get over to OT and give a speech!

Yeah i feel same, i could live with us scraping around cl spots if that was the kind of team we had, it shows we only need a few players to bring in this year and a load to shit, but what we bring in has to be top class and full of energy, sterling/reus/pogba that kind of thing.

Nah! SoF has just posted her 5,000th over there. I can't top that.

Imo several of the kids are ready to be squad players but not relied upon as starters. Having said that, Celtic were huge last night but the roughest fuckers on the pitch were Keane Bryan & Angelino. Both are a different proposition now than they were in August. So by the end of summer, there is no telling how these kids could have progressed.

Angelino himself doesn't think he is ready for 'big games' but does think he is ready for 'some minutes' . I would say that is the case right now, & Maffeo is slightly ahead.

But by August ? Anything is possible. Denayer & Lopes must be very close. Rekik is certainly there physically but good enough ? I doubt it but you never know until you see it.

The thread has probably gone off topic, but I really hope for this Ted. You see these guys regularly whereas I have only seen a handful of games with the youngsters mentioned in them, but have really liked the football I've seen. The prospect of us all getting to see them progress is one of the most exciting parts of the City project for me. I waited long enough, not thinking I'd ever see us win the league. Missing out every other year doesn't bother me, however like so many people on here, the manner in which we fell away this year is the most disappointing thing. Putting some youthful enthusiasm into the squad is overdue. These guys have City in their blood now and should show full commitment to the cause. Most fans could take a defeat if you at least got this.

Maffeo is ahead of Angelino at the moment. I've come round to that way of thinking just because of the impact he has on any team the second he steps onto the pitch. It's almost tangible - he's just a born leader and everyone seems more composed when he's on. I don't think I've seen a defender the size of 5'8 deal with players five inches bigger than him as well as he does for years. Gunn should be third choice if not out on loan, no question. As Ted said too, Barker's the kind of player, like Hazard, that causes stuff to happen simply by just being on the pitch. Last night he came on for the EDS, didn't really do too much of a note but he made them shit themselves every time he got the ball with his twisting and turning and they got plenty of men around him. Two or three at a time which left space for loads of ours to get forward whereas that wasnt happening at all in the first half. His ability to cut inside or out is so so rare. He's a special talent and he should be used every now and then next year.

Well said. It's the establishment thing. Look at last year-
Dipprrs - no trophies
City - 2 trophies.
Manager of the year - Brenda

Yaya - 3rd highest scorer in the prem and 2 trophies
Gerrard - scored a few pens and no trophies and personally blew the league
Gerrard second in the player of the year stakes after Suarez.
It fucking stinks, fucktards the lot of them

I'm not arguing against the agenda that clearly exists, but for this season only does anyone really think any of our players deserve an award?

I sure as hell don't.

Do you really think Costa or Coutinho or whatever deserves it more than Aguero? It's fucking mental short termism. Everyone's seemingly forgotten that before his injury everyone was talking about Aguero perhaps being in the top five in the world, maybe the best outside of Messi and Ronaldo. He was in that great a form... Coutinho was doing fuck all. Coutinho has five good games now in a row and gets nominated. It's baffling. Aguero's now getting his form back too and is leading scorer again.

Yep, that's the thing that people are seemingly forgetting, he was genuinely being spoken about as the 3rd best player in the world, not just by city fans, but by independent pundits and even the media.

He missed a month, had a barren spell of 6 games without a goal which coincided with our dreadful performances in midfield and defence where I attach very little blame to him, and all of a sudden despite being the joint top scorer in the premier league, not even nominated in the top half dozen players in England.

It's very fucking strange. I'd like to wager that if you go back through the last 10 years, the top 2/3 goalscorers in the league have been nominated almost without fail.

This isn't a media agenda as it's the PFA awards, so what the fuck is going on here, how do they come up with this shortlist?

You didn't really answer my question.

Onto yours. Counthino definitely not, costa absolutely. Costa has been one of the big differences for them this season and has helped tip them towards the title. Now I think hazard should win it, but I've no issue with him being nominated.

Now back to Aguero, would I argue if he was nominated? No. Am I upset he's not? No. He's had a great little run early on and been injured and ineffective since. That's been a huge part of our problem, people on here have given him a huge pass in my opinion. I love Sergio, I really do, but in my eyes he's been a shell of himself for half a season. He's failed to impact the game and lost some of that fear he puts in defenders. Yes we've been shit overall, but his jogging matches rival yaya for me this season. Only ones a nice guy and ones not.

All engineered by Hazard changing the whole complexion of the game. We don't have a player like that except Aguero.

But we do in the reserves.

Barker?

Yep. And not necessarily alone from the academy.

I also think the lesser spotted Kelechi Iheanacho will have that element about him one day if he is ever seen in public again.

Would it be too much to introduce 5/6 of them to the squad next year giving us the following:

Hart/Caballaro/Gunn

Zaba/Sagna Kompany/Mangala/Demi/Denayer Clichy/Angelino

Lopes/New Star winger example Reus, Fernando/Fern2/2 New star centre mids (pogba and X), Silva/Barker

Aguero/Bony/Iheanacho/New Striker or Dzecko

Means shifting alot out but would mean only splashing out on 3/4 actual players, too much?

I like the look of that :-)

That is the look I want the squad to have next season, however deep down I dont think its gonna happen that way.

Exactly.

I must admit, using the same criterion, to be in two minds as to whether, or not, Hazard should be on the list as well. I suppose he should really, but I do have some reservations.

Exactly.

I must admit, using the same criterion, to be in two minds as to whether, or not, Hazard should be on the list as well. I suppose he should really, but I do have some reservations.

Really? Hazard has been the best player in the league, consistent as well, amazing he has stayed injury free with the amount of kicks he gets.

Hazard to win the main award for me with Kane winning the young award
