Team for the semi 1st leg

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Team for the semi 1st leg

Postby Bojinov's left foot » Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:18 pm

Huge match on Wednesday. Whilst we have injuires and players absent at the African Nations Cup confidence is high.

Should be a fantastic atmosphere, wonder if the Club will give free scarves or flags out on the night?

Getting a win on Wednesday would be good and help to set us up for the 2nd leg but not essential. We have proved we can win away.

IMO the team for Wednesday should be:

Given
Zabaleta Richards Kompany Garrido
Petrov De Jong Barry Bellamy
Tevez Robinho

Any thoughts.

Think we really need to go all out to get a healthy lead going into the 2nd leg, about 3-0 would do me as can see them really coming at us 2nd leg if they are behind.

but i would agree with that team considering the absentees we currently have. SWP in if hes fit

If we can keep them from scoring which is possible if they play there reserves, we are far more than capable of giving them a good hiding.

---------------Given

Zaba--Richards--Kompany--Garrido

-----------De Jong--Barry

Petrov---------SWP----------Bellamy

----------------Tevez

Still think we'll stuggle with Garrido at LB. We will be exposed there even if Bellers is mucking in.

We could do with RSC. Don't really trust Robinho at the moment for this one.

Edit: Just seen Richards went off with groin so it will have to be Boyata there.

---------------Given

Zaba--Richards--Kompany--Garrido

-----------De Jong
petrov----------barry----------bellamy

----------------------robbie<<<< give robbie a free role in the middle
------------Tevez

the way tevez has been playing and considering he'll want it abit more seen as its the scum he'll be alot for there weakened defence to handle which gives robbie more space and time

17-0

Quite worried who'll be fit but id go for;

.................given

zab....boyata........vince.....gaz
..........ndj..........barry
swp..............................bellers
............tevez...robi

If rsc is fit then possibly him ahead of Robi but either way we'll batter the fuckers, just a shame that Micah is out now as was starting to look more confident at the back.

That looks pretty full strength to me, unless you wanted to swap Garrido with Sylvinho. Considering our injuries at the moment I cant think of any stronger line up?

I know Boyata had a good game yesterday, but are people actually serious when they put him in their starting XI against U***d?!

Good call Sven. If all niggles are gone from Yesterday that`s what I imagine as we`re at home and Robbie brings his football head to work.

I think it's more out of thought that Micah has been added to the casualties, in which case we're out of options. I agree with your side if their all fit by the way.

Ah I see, I didnt actually know Micah was injured yesterday, I thought it was just a mental tactical change by Mancini.

Hughes = no plan B

Mancini = mental tactical change

I love it.

I really hope we are playing our strongest team - which until we are clear on the injuries we do not know what this

But I am getting irritated about all this talk of the scum playing 'their kids' - this is not really the case - it is not an Arsenal situation - they do not do that

You will see only a couple of 'genuine' youths in a team of experience in age or experience (like Gibson) in 1st team - and with a strong bench

Baconface will be playing a no-lose situation where he gives the 'impression' of playing some youth and therefore if we stuff them or they win he has either ready-made excuses or can gloat - but if we do go ahead in the game I can see Rooney coming off the bench - we help by keep talking about kids

In the game against Spurs - much was made about the scum's Youth - but in fact it was more the lack of depth in their squad that should have been talked about (but of course the press spin it positively) - given the injuries they had they did not have many other options

Going off Mancini saying he's hopeful Robi, SWP, Nedum and RSC will be fit then i would put the latter 3 in and bring Robi on to put in the tie-killing 4th ;o)

Aslong as we take a 2-0 lead to swamp il be confident whoever baconface plays as we'll have most players fit by then and even with our patched up defence don't look like conceding, which will hopefully improve as the team get used to playing his way and first choice players are back in the mix.

Given
zab micah kompany sil
belly bary dejong petrov
tevez robin

Garrido is too slow to play left back. He can play LM though. I'd love to see Petrov to play left side. It'smore natural for him.

Garrido must be quicker than Sylvinho, plus he seems stronger in the tackle and a threat from free kicks so i would play him instead.

Would love to see a 100m race between the two left backs. Could take a while though...
