He should be judged against his peers, in that respect he hasn't done badly at all, he started off very shaky but there is signs now that he's settling and we're seeing more composed performances. That's given me hope that with a proper preseason behind him we'll see a much better player next season.

In theory you are right but the reality is he will get judged on how much he cost the club.
As for Mangala getting better as time goes on , well Id say thats only possible if Pellegrini keeps him in the first team squad....pound to a fucking penny Pellegrini will play Kompany in some part of the next 2 games..if not as a starter...so then we go back to square one.
