I think in this, I am in agreement with Carl. Sort of.

It doesn't matter if Mangala is going to be good, or if he is good. £42M is an outrageous amount to spend on any defender and if you have spent that much money, he should be a world class destroyer of strikers well in advance of us signing the cheque.

I had this debate over Bellamy, I was a big fan of his when he was here but at the time I was in disbelief that we spent £16M on a guy who was 30yo, had shot knees, 12 months left on his contract and went on strike in order to force a move. At that point it doesn't matter how well he plays or if he turns into the Welsh Lionel Messi, you should not be paying that much money for that player.

Same situation, although I think Mangala will be very good so I guess we differ there. Also Kompany it's hard to tell if it's decline or just him having a bad season. I think next season Kompany/Mangala with MDM used sparingly as his legs are going, Denayer(maybe?) to be brought through to 3rd choice by January and 1st choice in the domestic cups.

Remember it fondly, said I don't think a player should be binned after one bad game. If that's detailed opiniok of the match Id suggest you've set the bar too low. Either that or old age has clogged your memory.

I'm not convinced at all that City have 'confirmed' Mangala cost 42 mil. Not am I convinced on the fee we are supposed to have paid for Fernandinho, while we are at it.

I don't think City have told anybody how much they paid for either & it's the selling clubs who are coming up with the figures but nobody in the media has got the details. I think a deal may have been done with the other percentage owed to 3rd parties for Mangala. But 32 mil is too much for the Mangler anyway, just as 27 mil is too much for Luke Shaw & any money we might pay for Sterling or Barkley or Bale or Pogba or Koke or any other cunt we sign, who is wanted by several clubs, is going to be far too much.

That's how it is. We either pay up, or miss out.

Whatever happens in the summer transfer window, I just hope we don't go out and buy any more defenders, especially centre-backs.

I would hope that we now 'stick' with whatever we've got and if Kolarov goes, I'd try get in a short term free transfer (until Angelino is ready to come through) if one was available or, failing that, I'd use Mangala at left back as cover for Clichy, whenever necessary.

If Boyota does go (to Celtic ??), I hope we let Denayer play himself in as a contender for being a permanent fixture in our back line.

All in all, I'd like to see a more settled defence this next season, irrespective of its constituent parts, rather than the endless rotation we've had in this current campaign and if the 'best' centre-back pairing turns out to be Denayer and Mangala, for example, then so be it and players such as Kompany will have to be content to warm the bench for as long as is necessary.

I'd like us to bring in Danny rose and keep Micah - agree otherwise, no cb's required.

Do we agree the big problem with Dzeko and Yaya is work rate and motivation? Both have a top player within them.

Sunday papers reporting Chelsea could be interested in both players! I don't know if agents, rivals or press just stirring things?

On the face of it, both players seem the opposite of what Mourinho demands. However, last season, JM did say, "Dzeko should have been Player of the year". At the time I thought it was just JM trying to be controversial. Maybe he still is?

I cant see us selling either player to Chelsea, but I cant help wondering if JM would be able to motivate them?

I wouldn't sell them Sagna. If there is even a remote chance that we sell them a player that helps them I wouldn't do it.

So they can have Richard Wright.

We should never sell a potentially good player to a rival.

Absolutely. In fact we should adopt Bayerns MO at bit more and strip our rivals of their best players. Like the dippers in the 70s and early 80s

He should be judged against his peers, in that respect he hasn't done badly at all, he started off very shaky but there is signs now that he's settling and we're seeing more composed performances. That's given me hope that with a proper preseason behind him we'll see a much better player next season.

Kompany has serious problems on the home front and that is the reason why he is struggling , does not portray his image of a role model for the club.

Hopefully it is sorted for next season and he can form a good partnership with Mangala , if not we will have to be in the market again for another centre back as MDM is finished at this level.

Disagree...get Denayer in and build on that partnership for the pre season with an eye open to sign another CB...Kompany is finished.
