In a relegation fight, or for that matter any situation where a manager is trying to turn a situation round, whether it be in football or business, blame is no good to anybody. A full and frank discussion about the players' responsibilities maybe, but one wonders in these situations just how much players are allowed to have full and frank discussions about the manager's approach, which from the games I've seen, have been as much to blame as the ineptitude of the players.
Pardew was doing well, Carver is doing shit with the same players (who I think are certainly not relegation material) - even if there was a middle ground he needs to cut the bullshit and look a bit closer to home as to where the problem is, as he has them performing well below par.

Seems to me like Carver wants to claim credit if they win at the weekend and stay up. Keeping things in-house with some dignity comes second to grabbing headlines and a bit of glory. He didnt have to tell anyone about this meeting, but he did..."look at me look at me" I just dont see how it can help the situation

Ramsey at QPR did the same thing as Carver, but did it with more dignity and didnt name names but they knew who they were. He didnt have to say anything, he could have kept his mouth shut, but he has just been given the job permanently! I hope Carver gets the job, would be funniest season ever, but I know he wont. Perennial under achievers, amazing when you think of the massive catchment area, fan base, stadium etc.. great set up, but keep falling flat on their faces, would be nice to see them go down just so I dont have to hear Shearer harp on about them every week!

Or even Sunderland.
With regards to Carver, I think he's known for a while that the writing's on the wall and that he isn't up to it, so he's publicly slating all and sundry to shift the blame in advance.
He must have one eye on future job opportunities that he might, or might not, be involved with.

He's clearly Newcastle through and through. He must know he's not up to it and will be gone in summer (although with Ashley, who knows) and I think he's trying to take some of the worst players down with him for personal satisfaction and maybe the benefit of the club.
I was always amazed Hughes and Mancini didn't say something afterwards, but I assume the terms of their settlement didn't allow it. Maybe Carver is taking the chance whilst he can.
