Mirror reporting Merlin's having surgery in the U.S. for a long standing ankle problem. Hope he recovers quickly....

Hopefully he's out for the whole summer, so he's nice and refreshed for the start of the season...sod the pre-season matches

That was post season...

Sounds like planned surgery, non major, therefore the logical time which hopefully won't affect pre-season too much.
