Either that or we go with a squad of 19 plus kids.

You can only select a squad of 17 for each game, only 11 can be selected to start. If we spend that money on upgrading our current first 17 to better than what we had, we would be OK if we didnt get decimated by injuries. IMO from what I have seen from our academy, we have the resources to fill in the odd time when required without it hindering us. Use the kids in the League cup to reduce the number of games and go with a mix in the FA Cup. Prioritise the league then the Champions league and go with a full squad of 19 and let the home grown quota fill over time organically. I dont want to line Liverpools pockets with stupid money, let them fuck up and let sterling rot with them.

Absolutely.

Good post all round WW.

So you dont have an opinion? Or you dont think others should have one?

Liverpool also have professionals and they spent £120m last summer!!!

My opinion remains that he is an exciting player to watch and I would love it if he joins City, especially now we have lost Milner as one of our gaps in the squad is a two sided wide player (and preferably English or rather association trained). And I wasn't trying to imply anything.

He was "performing" up until the contract issue came into the spotlight and he started getting flack from the English media who live in fairy tale land, hating on any player who doesn't go about things as they wish.

I guess we'll all see what happens. But labeling him "shite" is silly talk.

Well he is weak minded kid then, something we can do about then. He was gash for England to, no contract issue there.

Also If you read what I said, if he were good the issues surrounding him wouldn't have affected his performance.

anyone who doesn't think Sterling is a fantastic young talent is going against the considered opinion of most people involved in football. He's got some personality/background issues but he is a million times better than Jesus and far more exciting than de Brune. Pay what it takes is my view.

For the right price it's a no brainer for me. £30m or £35m is what we will have to pay if we are to get him this summer. Call the dippers bluff and wait until next summer and the price falls considerably, £15m perhaps.

Or, do we wait a year to save a lot of money but risk he goes to the arse or chavs and turns out to be the next Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez? I suspect de Bruyne might be the main target, but as a back up, Sterling ticks a lot of boxes

I'm stunned at the negativity around Sterling. I think he's brilliant and will be really pleased if we sign him. Don't care how much it costs, its not my money.

For what its worth I think we probably will end up signing him for close to 40m. And I'll be very happy about that.

He is quite wasteful at times and didn't score much despite playing as a striker quite often. But then again he's only 20 years old, and his development is being stunted staying at the dippers. Who did he have to learn from there? David Brent, Henderson, Countinho, Sturridge, Stevie G, Mario.... Sort of above average and absolutely no where near world class. I feel like Super Mario has even taken 10 steps back under their joke of a manager.

With his rawish ability, he could improve by 2x from Pellers coaching, our backroom staff, and being amongst real top level professionals such as Silva, Yaya, Aguero, Nasri, etc... Just something to think about

I'd have Sterling in a shot. He's obviously had issues this season but when you look back, he was excellent in the first part but then was played, and played, and played again, even though Gnasher said he needed a rest. Huge pressure was put on his shoulders and his game suffered. Couple that with the fact that he was likely tapped up and wanted to be with us makes it a little understandable why he lost a bit of form.

Saying that, he was still one of the Dippers better players and you can imagine how the likes of Slippy 'G' and rude boy Henderson were treating him when the contract issues came up.

Giving the Dippers money though, now, that makes me shiver.

As long as Brenda is spending it, don't worry.

Sterling has looked relatively poor this season, but he actually created more goalscoring chances than the previous one but ended up with less assists as they were to Mario and Lambert, not Suarez and Sturridge.

Stick him on the right, tell him to take people on and then pass it to the stocky short bloke in the middle and he'll be fine. If things get tricky, pass it back to that little Spanish bloke who's always nearby and always in space for some weird reason, then start running and, as if by magic, the ball will reappear at your feet. Then pass it to the stocky bloke.

Benteke is actually very good in the air but we have Bony who although shorter is actually very good in the air himself. Bony is also better technically than Benteke imo.

So you're judging him on one game? In that case, Sterling is worth about 50p cos he was shitter than a very shit thing against Ireland
