Barkley could have had his dip season. Martinez hardly ripped up any trees with his panic formations and rotation wit Europa, Barkley should be judged on what we know he can do not what Everton used him to do in a poor side. Take him all day.

Whenever Ive seen him recently it looks like he is trying too hard. We sign him for silly money he'd only try even harder and I dont think that would be to his benefit. He still needs to develop. We can get better if we are spending the sort of money Everton would want.

So we either buy 2 more to fill the squad or promote from within, if we are assuming Denayer and Lopes are been promoted then we are fine no?

FWIW i dont think we need both, i dont rate barkley at all, if we are going to sign someone specifically for HG and we cant find the neccesary top quality(of which there are very few english players who could genuinely challenge in our team, Sterling one of the few) then i say we flog Willy and get in a solid HG second choice keeper.

I meant promoted to the first team squad, not neccesarily a list, as in they are going to be considered as part of our 22 man 2 for every position squad.

I agree we should fill HG with a no.2 goalkeeper , as it also carries insurance in that a temp lonee could be allowed if crisis occurs , this lad is Definately 1 to watch.

Just posted this in the transfer thread, but I wonder if the club aren't keeping one eye on this - Greg Dyke's masterplan to make English football great again, which if approved will come in next season (2016)

I would actually prefer an oldie(im thinking Rob Green or someone like that) and then it leaves room for Gunn to progress behind then, if we sign a young guy like Bentley it might stunt Gunns progress.

I agree and still don't understand the utterly pointless Caballero transfer.

Keiren Westwood was released by Sunderland and had a great season for Wednesday. He could have done that job, while being homegrown (and even club trained in this case), free and on lower wages. As could the likes of Green, Carson, Lewis, Stockdale etc. I understand that some of them might not want to sit on the bench, but others would I'm sure.
