Manchester City agree deal with Inter Milan for Vieira?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I'd be very happy with Vieira on loan. Kompany can stay in back four permanently and we'd have world class central midfielder to challenge for De Jongs spot. Vieira is much more positive than De Jong with the ball and will be good for us especially against "easier" opponents. Anyway, injury to De Jong right nowand we'd be screwed.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I haven't seen him much ( he hasn't played that much has he?) but my last memories had him as too slow and I hope he doesnt get in instead of the key midfielders we have. Spose it fits Mancini playing a more defensive game too which has worked so far.

WE HAVENT PLAYED A DEFENSIVE GAME SINCE HE WAS IN CHARGE AT ALL......THE WOLVES GAME WAS ONE OF THE BEST ATTACKING DISPLAYS WEVE SEEN THIS SEASON SO THAT PUTS THAT THEORY TO BED.

OUR DEFENSE IS 1000 TIMES BETTER...BUT AT NO TIME HAVE WE PLAYED A DEFENSIVE GAME SINCE MANCINI CAME IN.

Its always a worry when the word is that players want to move because of an impending tournament and that they want regular football. It smacks to me of a player who doesn't really rate where they are going but will put up with it to secure a place in their national team. Having said that, I think it would be a good addition to the squad but given the form De Jong has been in I wouldn't put many defensive midfieders ahead of him at the moment.

I also have this theory that we may see a signing on Wednesday, introduced to the crowd before the match whipping the crowd up on a freezing night helping get us talked about big time in the build up. Would be a great way to overshadow them before we start!

If he can do as good of a job as Hamann did under Sven, I'd have him in a heart beat. Holding midfielder is not a position where you necessarily need to be fast, especially not if you got loads of experience and can read the game well.

Andy, I had the same theory. Would be a great piece of PR and whip the media rug out from under Ferguson's hairy nose.

This is an up to date mini documentary on him with interviews. Quite a good watch.

He was one of the top 5 midfielders in the world while at Arsenal, not so sure now.

But then again a cheeky loan move when we have so many games coming up might be ok.

I hope this is agent talk, or lazy journalism.... not keen on Vieira coming to the club at all, way past his sell by date.
I must remember to get a new signature.....

Would be a great signing .... in 2004.

He does fulfill the need for a captain/leader on the field which I sometimes think we look like we need, and as the manager knows him i would trust his judgement. A short-term loan at best though.

CORRECT!!! Can I just ask people who would see this as a good deal, 'How old is he, when was the last time he played a competitive game, how many games as he played this year and how would he make an immediate impact on our team?'.

Absolute ridiculous signing if it happens and would be taking us back to the Fowler/McManaman days. Are we not aspiring to lead the pack, not back it up?

Only difference is that Sven signed Mancini when he was still at the top of his game, and still able to do the things Mancini was good at. The things that Vieira made his name for are things he can no longer do.

And very understandable mate and I don't have a real problem with a player like Vieira at his age. What I would have a problem with is any player of his age who has not played a competitve game in months and only a handful in the space of a year. Although he is a professional (and I mean of the heighest order imo), it takes a while for any player to get up to steam, to fit into the system and get to know the players and crowds around him. If he is short term, then it will take him that time to fit in. If he is long term, it's another year on his numbered years in a very demanding role.

Now, if he's looking at some sort of coaching role and a mentor for the up and coming, then yes, but as a player, definately not imo.

WTF are you waffling about now Beefy...it's a fucking loan deal...not like we are signing him up for a long time...six months max...and Bobby knows what he needs and how to go about it...if he thinks Patrick can do a job...then who are we to argue the toss
