Will the game be on?? [Edit: GAME CALLED OFF]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Re: Will the game be on??

The snow is supposed to move south tomorrow so the roads should be cleared up north. However I must admit it has influenced our plans. Although the club finally allowed us to buy tickets yesterday (we have very low recent loyalty points!!) there's absolutely no point us taking time off work when we wont be able to drive up through the aforementioned snow, and the game may be off anyway.

There are always some pseudo-southerners in South/West Manchester who panic if they see a snowflake but there are hillfolk on here saying it's too bad as well. If people in places like Shaw reckon it's too bad, it's too bad! Pretty grim over this side of the hills as well (Holmfirth), I called my staff and stopped them coming in, it's the responsible thing to do.

City store and box office are close today as well. not looking good :(

Due to the extreme weather conditions today, the Club has reluctantly decided that the Box Office and the Citycentre shop at the City of Manchester Stadium will remain closed.

Do we really want this on?

The reality is, many, many people can literally not move their cars and there is a very real possibililty that, if the match goes ahead, there could be less than 30,000 people who can actually physically make it.

I;ll be as gutted as the next man if it's off but I don't want our biggest game for donkeys years to be cheapened by a rack of empty seats. I'd rather play it next week with the stadium packed to the rafters, with us all cheering the boys home to a great victory.

Just a thought but I wonder what the possibility of swapping the legs around would be? I know it's a long shot but getting the second leg at home would be brilliant. Copenhagen tried it on with us last year, maybe we should give it a go.

I meant play the first leg at OT on the 19th and the second leg at Coms after that. Thinking about it it's not going to happen is it unless the snow lasts until next week (which it won't)?

If it is off then what would be a likely re-arranged date?? Surely it couldn't be next week as we have Blackburn on monday night!!

My Mrs got to Stockport OK but got told to come back home...

Being Mossley born and (in)bred I dont hide away from Snowy weather, walked it to Ashton one bad winter (in the 90's) through knee high snow over the tops, but this is the worst I've seen it in a LONG while - and its followed me to bloody Shaw now!

Going off the amount of cars dumped on my street at the botton of a hill, I'd say your delivery driver friend isn't making many deliveries to too many houses on hilly streets ;-)

Soc's is right with what he says because you have to think about when it freezes later on which is going to cause more problems than the snow.

Now if we had this kind of weather more often we'd all have decent snow tires and get them swapped over for the winter and we'd all be fine and sod the grit!

Well maybe your delivery man mate will be looking at a chunky insurance claim later on today......then who will be bloody soft??

Everyone has different vehicles and different levels of snow so to generalise like you have is just ignorant!!

Tell that to everyone who is grid locked on the M60 now....

Council reckoned they gritted priority roads twice last night and the sheer volume of snow overwhelmed it - they're using snow ploughs in some places now.
