The transfer rumour to boil your blood!

Postby john@staustell » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:33 am

'diariohoy' of Argentina has made the lazy link between Mancini and one Juan Sebastian Veron, whom it insists we have offered Estudiantes 50 million pesos for (about seven pounds fifty). (The club is broke by the way).

I wont bother to translate it, but feel free to use online translators!!

I think we are pretty safe from this one, it was well documented Veron didn't like living and working in Manchester one jot.

He's staying in argie land no doubt.

SSN reporting on the story just said he was 54.

Good news is that there were no quotes, no fact, just bollocks in their report.

I thought the useless cunt had turned to acting. Was Veron not the Devil in South Park The Movie?

However wouldnt it be good if he rocked up here and turned out to be a good player - another one in the eye for the pissed up scottish cunt.

on the ssn site there are now direct quotes saying he has rejected us.

i must admit im a little concerned about the players we are being linked with. these old guys are not the sort of players we should be going for!

I think with the likes of Cordoba and Veron (if true) Mancini is just looking to plug the gaps, which on a short term basis I think is a better bet than spunking fortunes on players who might not be here in the summer if Mancini goes.

I think the only big money signings this window will be those who the board feel would be an asset to the club regardless who the manager is, and that player would have to be in the world class bracket.

Plus, remember this time last year, most of us were up in arms about Bellamy.............

Total bullshit. Proven failure, no way Mancini would try to sign a bloke who failed consistantly for several years in the PL.

according to verons side we offered him £7mill for one year and his club the same amount!

if we want a crreative midfielder and a defensive surely there are better targets available. van der vaart and gago immedietly spring to mind.

i agree witrh the cordoba one though, there is no way we would get a top class centre back in the jan window.

The fact is, if Mancini buys Van der Vaart and Gago, and then he faisl to achieve CL thus is sacked in the summer, we may have players that the following manager won't like, or they could not adapt to the manager's ideas, or to the Prem. Now the Veron story seems bullshit to me but the Vieira one has solid bases as he can do a job for us for six months, Mancini knows him so there would not be a risk of the player not adapting to the manager's style, nor there would be a risk of him not adapting to the Prem.

I wouldn't have Vieira as a regular starter, but if he can act as cover or maybe to shore up our side when we have to protect an important lead, then since it's a loan deal I'm for it.

I think the names we are being linked with on a short term basis suggest that Mancini's position is definately up for review is only in the summer.

As I said, unless a Villa, Aguero, Terry is available, then I dont think we will be signing anyone for longer than 6 months/1 year.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. If he fails to achieve CL and doesn't win a cup, then yes, and we will probably get Mourinho. But if he achieves CL and/or wins a cup, then I think he'll get another season. Fact is, he can't risk buying players he doesn't know or who he fears might not adapt to the Prem.

"It's not a fact of money. First of all is the family, an second, I have made a decision and I want to respect it, that is what I feel and Estudiantes is the place where I feel comfortable," said Veron.

"If I would have accepted this offer I wouldn't have been true with my convictions, with myself and with the people."

Veron's agent Miguel Pires gave the detail of City's offer.

"Veron said to me that he received a phone call from Mancini and that he had offered him £7million and the same to Estudiantes for a one-year contract.

"In addition, that amount would have got duplicated if he would have continued at Manchester City during 2011."

I am now starting to worry about who we are linked with. Serie-A players do not tend to do well in our league with the odd exception to that rule of course. A proven Premiership failure in Veron is bad enough but the fees involved are stupid.

I wouldn't believe most of these 'links', probably with players/agents wanting a pay rise/new deal, which I suspect is the case with Veron.

I have seen 2 headlines this week 'City miss out on so-and-so'. But when you read the story the agent says 'we have had no contact from Manchester City'.

Mostly the usual bollox.

I think Veron has made this up & it's bollox. I've watched him & he can't even keep up to the pace in the South American WC qualifiers when half the teams walk about & has had stick from the Argy fans for being shite, any manager would see that. No one in their right mind would consider him for the PL, he'd be a fucking disaster.
