I firmly believe that Van Gaal will implode at some point and be gone by the seasons end.
Then it'll be a different matter with an Ancelotti, Klopp or God forbid Pep in charge.
Enjoy this whilst it lasts - they will be back

Financial disaster , more like !

At the time we drifted into decline Utd started to dominate. This generated the huge interest in The PL as just as a huge club was coming down another was coming up.
If the oil money had come along for you & Chelsea at the start of the PL everyone would be up shit street. The public has no appetite to watch 2 small teams being propped up by dodgy ''Royals & Businessmen'' The viewing figures would have dropped off.

I honestly think there is an issue with their 'Financial Clout' with the Glazers needing to syphon some more money away. We know they were in for Otamendi and Pedro et al and it only seems that they didn't get them because they couldn't/wouldn't pay the asking price.
Sounds like a cost cutting exercise to me, now they've reached the CL they're happy.

But they paid more for the French kid than either of the other two you mentioned ending up costing so I don't think it's a cost cutting story at all.
The glazers will always siphon. They are like venture equity owners. Their investment always comes with the balance of taking out just as much to make sure they are getting their share. Unlike city who've genuinely invested in the club and community for the best interests of both groups long term goals.
Most clubs operate or would operate like the Rags are. We are just special and should appreciate it. It's incredibly unique in world football.
Cheers

Liverpool and Spuds are pretty much on a par. But the only reason the Dippers are mentioned in amongst the 4 serious clubs is the massive proliferation of ex-players in the media, unable to comprehend that their club is now mediocre and mid-table, not top 4.
