What's going on with this kid? Has he played for the EDS at any point? How is he going to develop if he's in no man's land playing a couple of games a year in a cup?

He is playing at a level (UYL) that will help him, in a system that will help him integrate into the first team much easier. He looks an excellent prospect and with a year of training with city eds and first team he may well be ready to challenge for a place.

Brilliant. I'm hoping he gets a few games in the cups as well.

I am not going to say he is ready now to hold down a first team slot but the lad is a special talent and must be involved with the first team and getting some game time. A must for the cup game against Sunderland imo.

Watching him yesterday against Juve was a joy and I have no doubt our management ( and apparently our captain) think he is something special. He has wonderful dribbling ability and he does it where it matters and he has already had a taste of first team football at Fulham. We have talked about which of our EDS lads are ready to step up and the likes of Barker,Ambrose,Angelino,Maffeo get a mention but I think Roberts is already way ahead of them.

He's the only one out of the ones you mention Doug, that I hadn't seen before and no doubt he played well.
I was impressed by Maffeo again. I thought Ambrose wasn't as sharp as he could have been.

I can see Navas being sold and being replaced in the first team squad by Roberts in due course, probably at the end of the season. In the meantime by all means give him a run with a couple of others in the League Cup.

Maffeo was good again and I liked the center back pairing of Tosin and Humphreys. Duhaney was pretty good at left back as well so pretty well throughout the team we had good quality. Ambrose might not have been at his best but I still enjoy watching him play and what he puts into the games.Should have scored one for sure.

Agree about Duhaney. I think I singled him out in the EDS game thread. He's only a young lad from the U16's too. Is that correct?
He put one fabulous ball in for Ambrose in the first half that should really have been converted.
