Welcome to Manchester, David Villa?

Postby AG7 » Thu Oct 15, 2015 7:28 pm

"David Villa has opened up the possibility of a loan move to Manchester City."

The Spanish striker admits there has been widespread interest in signing him temporarily with New York City - the Blues' sister club - now ruled out of the MLS play-offs.

Villa had a loan with another of City Football Group club Melbourne City last year.

And he has not ruled out the possibility of a further spell elsewhere.

Given Aguero is out injured for up to two months, a Frank Lampard style move to Manchester City is currently being discussed.

He could be "negotiated" and be available as early as January 1.

Aguero is injury prone and if Bony doesn't click, he won;t be a bad back-up to have for the second half of the season. I'd sign him even just so Wenger and Mourinho can have a meltdown, ha ha!

I totally agree with your comment & I wish that City could add David Villa immediately.
David Villa has scored 17 goals & 5 assists, in just his 1st season at NYCFC. He already has great playing links with David Silva & Jesus Navas & can play on the left, right or centre.
David Villa is already friendly with most of the City team & would instantly fit in. He also has the energy level of Navas and never gives up, attacking & defending, until the final whistle.

If only David Villa could be added to our CL team... We could use his winning experience from Barcelona!

+1.

Always liked him as a player and I think he could be a solid back up option and do a job for us if needed.

David Villa would be a good addition considering the situatrion we're in. However Pellegrini should admit he fucked up not getting another striker.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."

Oh yeah because that would be a great idea for the manager to come out midsesson and say he was wrong to not buy more when we have two healthy strikers waiting to prove their worth. Great idea.

Don't stop there either. We also got rid of a proven goalscorer ! Time and again comes up with the critical goals. Worked with the team for the entire success cycle that we are on, so far. Already knows how we play since he is/was part of the development of the team. Didn't need 'time to bed in'.

Also still in his twenties. How old is Villa now ?

It is an absurd idea to get him(Villa) in now. Better to go with the youngsters. At least we can forgive them for being young . At least they will try their best.

Loved Villa in his prime, but agree with going with the youth. If you don't give them a chance now, when will you.
Bony first.
Then Nachoman to the rescue.

As the season comes to a close for New York City FC, fans are being introduced to another interesting caveat of life in MLS: the ever-present rumors of an offseason loan.

In the case of NYCFC, the focus is on David Villa who has long been rumored as a target of La Liga clubs for a short-term winter deal.

The question of such a scenario was brought to Villa’s attention on the Valencia-based broadcast of Super Murcielago on Levante TV, who quelled the chatter in no uncertain terms.

“Yes, I am hearing rumors from everywhere, but nothing concrete and I haven’t even analyzed the idea of going anywhere else because realistically, it isn’t a real possibility,” Villa said.

The question was a hopeful one from the Murcielago hosts, partially due to Villa’s legendary status at Valencia. El Guaje scored 107 goals in 166 matches over six seasons with the club and is regarded as an icon for the club and city. He has had similar success at NYCFC, scoring 17 goals and adding eight assists in 28 appearances.

Villa acknowledged interest from other clubs, but would not go so far as to entertain a potential move. In fact, the Spanish legend says that he doesn’t know “if it would be the best decision for the club” to loan him out, especially since they want him “to rest” for the start of preseason camp on January 21st, 2016.

Villa says that he is “happy” at NYCFC — despite what he labels an “irregular season.”

“I won’t say I expected it because I never expect things like this, but yes, it is normal as a first year club, for being so complicated to make a team from scratch with new players, plus the rules when it comes to signing players like the way it is in Europe,” he explains. “It has been an irregular season. We weren’t able to make the playoffs, but individually, I am happy about the experience I am living. I am scoring a bunch of goals, we have two games remaining, and I am happy to live this experience, even if this first year didn’t bring about all the good we hoped for.”

Depends how you word it. Also, I never necessarily said admit it publicly.

But as usual on this site, people jump to conclusions.

I would go with Nacho, of course, but he looks a sicknote too.

I think Villa could be a nice addition, something like The Pizza Man from Fiorentina a few years ago.

When does Angelino come back? We could do with a left back.
