Or, Cameron & Xi Jinping could have chosen to visit the stadiums of Aston Villa, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, or even Old Ratford, instead!
The City campus is being shown to the leader of China, as both an example of football excellence, for the future and positive investment in England! Please put your own personal politics aside for a second and maybe we can be proud that City was chosen out of all the PL teams, as the best representative of British football.

I love that he was "unremarkable" for City and meanwhile he had over 100 appearances and is a cult hero which has nothing to do with his race but his attitude.
Nothing wrong with rewarding him for being the first or the most prominently featured Chinese player in the Prem during the era.
Sure it's a marketing story but what else is the fucking Hall of Fame? It's not actual sainthood and fucking sin absolution.
You'd have to say the lad and a few others around that time opened the doors to Asian player influence and furthered globalization in a major way. Doubtful that the TV deals look like they do now without our Sun busting a gut and getting some cards. Fuclers.
Cheers

But football has been made compulsory in Chinese schools and the PL is huge there, so this is a big win for Manchester and City. It shows how close the partnership between the council and the club is, as they've given access to City to possibly the most powerful man on earth and given us publicity in the world's biggest market.
But I still don't know what we'll do when the sheikh gets bored
