i'll give you a simple example....

itv, cnn etc.... have no rights to show pl games but they will show footage the marseillaise being played around the grounds. they will then pan to the players who will all be standing with locked arms showing off the sponsors logos on their shirts... if this wasn't considered by scudamore et al then i'll be shocked.

I like the Marseillaise, it's s million times better than God Save the Queen. Since its being played, hopefully it will be respected. But it's got bigger all connection to a game between City and Liverpool (except perhaps the scouse haven't mourned anything since Bodgers left and need an excuse to let out).

I thought it was a great gesture at the match at Wembley, especially since it was being played anyway. However Scudamore and the PL are way too reactionary, for whatever reasons. If the fans had broken out spontaneously with "Allons enfants" i would say it was a beautiful gesture. Being told it will be sung , means everybody will stay in the bars whilst a few administrators and the players feign interest. I know i will be in the bar and trying to place my bet on a 4-1 win for City with Sterling scoring the first.
