It really does tickle me when you come out with stuff like this.....as I can't see any reason why we wouldn't most definitely be one of THE teams he would actively want to join (massively on the up, huge resources, top pay, great set-up AND a manager who rates him and he rates)

What makes you think otherwise mate?

Personally I don't much care what his motives are for playing well as long as he does. He needs to do fucking well for us to earn his ticket to South Africa plane. I don't for a moment think that it's particularily us he wanted to join as a club.

What happens if Raymond gets on the phone and says you are guaranteed a place in the squad or conversely you haven't got a chance of replacing Diarra?

Players motivated to come to our club by non-City related issues are a concern for me.

Maybe I wasn't quite clear enough what I tried to say. I mean of course as the club is right now, we are probably most attractive Club for him. BUT it's not us as a club he has dreamed of playing for since kid or something like that. If Sheik had taken over Sunderland, he'd want to go there right now.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I don't think that applies just to Vieira thou. Probably ALL of Leslie's signings bar SWP are in the same boat imo

Vieira wants to get into the France squad for the world cup, we want him to re-discover some form and help us push on for a top 4 finish. If it goes tits up we go our seperate ways. Its a gun for hire scenario and City wanted him more than any other club, so, good for us! The thing is, Domenech is such a stubborn ostrich of a manager he'd turn his back on Vieira even if he does the business. He'd still favour Diarra and that other bloke who played v Ireland and gave the ball away all night long. He'd still play Gignac up front on his own and stick Anelka on his arse at left wing. Vieira has it all to prove but he's a winner, and we could use that mentality.

Of course. That's the way professional football is and that's why all the badge kissing piss me off.

ah ok...now that I agree with you on

Same goes for most of them though really....apart from the handful of local blues. Even them, if we were down in the Championship (or worse) I don't think we'd top the list for a talented ambitious player who happened to also be a City fan

I feel so sorry for those daft cunts from SKY camped outside COMS and Carrington all day in the freeze yesterday - NOT! Just a shame one wasn't Brian Swanson.

Well he seems a shoe-in for monday night (if it's on) so it should be a nice little run out fo him against Blackburn, nice way to ease him back into the Premiership.

We will also get more of an idea of Mancio's plans for the lad.

I think he will feature more than we would like, but he will be a real asset especially away from home against the likes of Stoke and Everton (Fellaini dominated the final third against us lost season).

Good article by Phil McNulty on BBC Sport. He says this with which I agree and I think we all have seen and felt the lack of leadership in our team:

When I have watched City this season, they have occasionally lacked leadership on the pitch and have almost always been vulnerable at the back. Kolo Toure, another former Arsenal star, has not been a comfortable fit as either captain or defensive lynchpin.

Vieira, at any age, is a natural leader, and his experience may enable him to offer a more effective screen to City's exposed back four, although the legs and energy are not what they were.

Does look rather like that picture Socrates used to have on his signature on here, without the headband!
