I went for Yaya good to see him getting back towards the old Yaya again. Silva getting back into the groove again also not far behind, he's only gonna get better (before his next injury - I so hope he stays fit). Sterling upped his effort by at least 20% and reaped the rewards.
But if it was an option I'd have gone for pellers for... well....just being pellers really. Staying calm and not getting overly animated and celebrating our goals in the measured fashion that he does in his own unique way - good lad!!!

I think his last twenty five minutes are papering over some very poor crossing in the first half. (Sorry Mase)
Let's not be picky though. He got stronger and stronger as the game opened up.

We've gotta remember that Sterling and De Bruyne are still so young and getting used to a new team, league in the latter's case.

We expect big things from these 2 and their form has shown they will produce but not necessarily in every game. It's there though, and that's why they're getting so many plaudits.

Looking forward to when they come of age, the Dipper turncoat and Chelsea flop.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Silva for me.
Toure was so up for it and of course the birthday boy.

Such a good night overall and the rags go out!

Oh, and no sign of the trolls. That's odd...

I think it has to be Sterling. He was playing well before his first goal but they were massive.

But how good is David Silva! If Sterling had Silva's first touch he would be truly world class. Welcome back Merlin.

Kolarov gets it for me. He was superb throughout and deserves a rare MoTM mention.

Fair enough but I'd go so far as to say the whole second half he was excellent rather than just the last 25.

I've decided I'm going for Silva, it was his leading by example in the press that pinned them back and ultimately saw them fold.

Radio Raheem was beasting!

Nice to see Yaya put in a good performance as well, and Silva. Bony also with some nice work when he came on.

Funny how when the match commentator we get here criticised him for his finishing, not long after I believe he showed some very strong technique with a shot on goal that I believe the keeper saved well.

All of the work he did, not just be back heel, to create the goal for Silva showed why we bought him.

Yes, his fee was of course due to his being English, but with him we have a player who really can be world class, and was instrumental in helping us top the group with our backs against the wall. He was putting in effort throughout the game and it paid dividends.

I'm fully expecting a transfer request from him or at least some criticism from his agent about his treatment at the club

Did everybody forget that Sterling was wank in the first half?
When the changes were made, almost to a man, people were moaning about KDB getting hooked rather than Raheem.
Either could have gone for me.
Silva was very good, Kolarov very decent too.
City and sniffing knickers.

De Bruyne was definitely the right substitution. He was knackered from about 20 mins into the game.
He needs a rest.

How is it that Bony is shit, but De Bruyne is just 'tired'? He was shocking again last night.

I never said Bony was shit. I'm still in the 'give him a full season', camp.
De Bruyne was shocking and has looked lethargic recently, but you can hardly call the return we've had from him already in his first season, 'shit'. The guy has shown his quality.

I didn't mean you in particular. It just made me smile how you described Kev as 'tired'.
Nobody would ever cut Bony that slack. Kev has been better than I expected so far, but there have been some pisspoor efforts from him recently.

I know what you mean, but I keep thinking of the finishing Bony displayed at Swansea, compared with the general shooting we see from him now. I believe there is a helluva player in there. Whether he ever makes it with us or not, the jury is out.
Some on here just believe he's shit. I think that's unfair. I'd have him over Edin for his overall workrate. But he will be judged ultimately by his goal return.
I'd imagine malaria is a very debilitating illness. It may account for the shocking contrast in him from his time at Swansea to his time here. I don't know.
Either way, give him a full season before judging him.
There have been quite a few having shockers, but Bony gets singled out.

Regarding KDB. The guy is class, but I agreed at the time (page 9 the match thread), that the guy looked spent from early in the first half, and was the right substitution.
I genuinely believe it is fatigue. Whether a player should or shouldn't be tired this early in the season, is another matter.
