Given their managerless state I hope this knocks the stuffing out of them.

Both. Defense is the problem. Plus putting another player in the middle won't fix anything. People talk about 3 CMs as if it's some kind of holy grail

Get in BIG WILF

Just a chess move to counter two strikers supported by an attacking midfielder. (Which has led to two chances that they might be disappointed to have missed)

Bony's much better in the air than his height would suggest. Great leap on him.

When Yaya has to be on the pitch, it's just common sense. Defense exposed again and again because he leaks and forces Sterling and Navas to cover their and his player when the attack is coming through their flank.

I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

This is the second game I've seen Yaya acting as a sweeper when we're building from the back, it's odd.

Not sure why Navas, with all his pace, constantly slows down these breaks

Because he doesn't have a runner with him. Sagna has been excellent this year but he's terrible at picking the right run. Zabba or Micah would destroy things in tandem with navas, but too often navas doesn't have the right "next movement" runner and invariably ends up tracking back or holding play up. Not a fault of him or sagna, just how they are. Probably due to sagna's not too great on the ball ability.

I think they've all played well in that half, Dave still finding his feet though. But bony has been great and for me yaya motm so far, pulling strings everywhere. If we can just sort our play out in the final third, we'll destroy these.

Looking at the replay for their chances, the problem was 100% with the defense. Sidgnerson was wide open but both of our CBs were standing in open space looking at him. Pointless to get on Yaya for not tracking back (or call for an additional midfielder) when we have plenty of players back. They're just hanging out in no mans land doing fuck all
