Sagna can't attack.
I fear that we urgently need a good right back.
I wonder if it is worth having a look at Maffeo.

Re taking a good look at Maffeo. This is something that already should have happened. It hasn't for a variety of reasons, but in the next couple of weeks with the fixtures piling up it has to happen. If Pellegrini doesn't blood him now we will pay for it later in the business end of the season when Sagna is completely fucked.

What's the worst than can happen, really?

He was one of about 10 players who played nowhere near as well as they could last season. But considering he played about 60 games the previous season, spending 95 minutes running up and down a flank and then playing in a world cup, it wasn't surprising. When he's back, being able to rotate him with Sagna will help, but his willingness to overlap will create a lot more space for the likes of DeBruyne (or Sterling if we played him where's he's best)

I want you to be right but the truth is that his form was poor, he has been out for a considerable length of time with a fairly serious injury and he isn't getting younger. It needs addressing soon. Hopefully we don't have to give up on Zabba just yet.

Should have done that already during the period Zaba was injured and maybe now isn't the right time. Even if I do think he is excellent

Pellegrini is very reluctant to introduce young players, a game like yesterday was the ideal opportunity.

Pretty much, this. Maffeo will get a look next year maybe, but not now unless maybe if both Sagna and Zaba are out. Even then he'd play Clichy if fit first anyway.

Found myself defending him last night, but was asked when was his last good game. Not this season, not last season.

Pellers has nailed his EDS colours to the master by playing clichy as a right back against monchengladbach and naming maffeo and sagna on the bench. Sagna Said he wanted a rest due to tiredness but he still selected him and brought him.on for clichy.

Do you expect a manager to play an EDS lad in a key Champions league game?

Bit harsh judging him on that, mate.

It's not just that game mate. He could have given humphries or garcia some game time when we were cruising against hull but he decided to bring Demichelis on. He has very little intention of promoting youth. Just like he said pre season that he was promoting lopes and denayer to the first team and look what happened to them.

Doesn't he have a good track record of promoting youth from his time in La Liga?

As for Hull, we were just one goal up with ten to go.

He may well have done so but that was a different club with different circumstances. It may have been born out of necessity.

We can only judge on what he does, or doesnt do at City.

I understand what you're saying, WW, and for what it is worth I personally would have one or two on the bench every game just in case.

I think none of them have made it yet because Vieira was saying they were not ready at the start of this season, wasn't he? The club are dying to get a lad, especially if he is local, into the first team, firstly to justify the investment in youth, but not least to ram all the "money" comments right up the media's fucking arse. So there must be a valid reason for it not happening yet, and the simplest one is that they are not ready.

It comes down to a question of whether you trust the judgement of the manager and the staff or not, I suppose. I do.

Totally agree with the local lad comment and the money jibes. However if they are not good enough then why bother naming them.

He brought Demichelis on in the 82nd minute when we were 3-0 up. I don't see any logic in that.

Nor do I but I'm also sure if he'd have brought one of the kids on then we'd have the usual 'what's the point in only giving a kid 5 minutes at the end'.

It wasn't convincing until the 3rd went in and he made the sub immediately. It should have been a like for like swap. Garcia for Silva. It's not the first time he has failed to give some kids a few minutes. Roberts has been on the bench and overlooked on many occasions.
