Robson? Really? He was a fucking great player

Cantona was the immediate one that sprung to my mind though. He was a good player but nothing like what the media make out.

Dodgy shoulder wouldn't have got in any of the good European teams at the time. That's why none of them came in for him. Thinks of all the great midfielders out there at the time. Good 1st division player and that was it mate.

I could make this list a lot longer with rag players and I would be quite justified mate:o)

Robson was a great player. But for injuries he'd have been one of the best. If he had played a decade later for the rags he'd have been better than Keane.

If we are judging players on their careers then Cantona fully deserves that mention. But for a couple of years after joining the rags he was a class above most in the PL at that time.

Andy Cole perhaps deserves a mention. Though he scored a lot of goals he did little else and never on the International stage. A flat track bully who missed as many as he scored.

These threads get a bit silly when they turn into a 'who hates Stretford most' dick-measuring contest. Cantona, Robson and Scholes are three prime ballbags but they were all absolutely terrific players who would waltz into any current Premier League team.

I thought Giggs was pretty useless for the final 7-8 years of his career and managed to get by on past glories. In recent years, Adel Taarabt and Ricardo Quaresma have been bafflingly highly regarded on the back of absolutely cock all. So too Adnan Januzaj.

Well, Adel Taarabt is on a real rampage playing for the Benfica B team:

Can't tell if this is serious - a guy who had the nickname 'Calamity James' and is probably my second highest rated City keeper after Joe (been going since '92 and can't forgive Coton for claiming that wild horses couldn't drag him away from the club, then going there)

Shrek by a fucking mile. Only 3 times in his career he has scored more than 20 goals a season.

And only 3 times he's scored for England in Euro/World Cup finals.

World class striker indeed
